IBM Redundant Power and Cooling option
Use this document with the documentation that comes with your server. The illustrations in thisdocument might differ slightly from your hardware.You will need to purchase a power cord to connect this power supply to a power source.The IBM
®
Redundant Power and Cooling option kit contains the following items.
v
One hot-swap 920-watt power supply
v
Three hot-swap fans
v
This document, which includes the product warranty information
Statement 8:CAUTION:Never remove the cover on a power supply or any part that has the following label attached.Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside any component that has this labelattached. There are no serviceable parts inside these components. If you suspect a problem with oneof these parts, contact a service technician.
 
To install the power supply and fans, complete the following steps:
1.
See the server
Installation and User’s Guide
for installation guidelines and additional safety information.
2.
Unlock and remove the side cover from the server.
3.
Remove the three fan air baffles from the available fan bays in the fan-cage assembly.
4.
Install the three hot-swap fans in the empty bays of the fan-cage assembly.
5.
Remove the power-supply filler from the empty power-supply bay. Save the power-supply filler incase you remove the power supply at a later time.
Important:
During normal operation, each power-supply bay must contain either a power supply or apower-supply filler for proper cooling.
6.
Slide the power supply partially into the empty power-supply bay. Pinch the orange release latch andpush the power supply the rest of the way into the bay until it is seated.
7.
Reinstall the left-side cover.
8.
Connect one end of the power cords into the connectors on the power supplies and the other end ofthe power cords to a properly grounded electrical outlet.
9.
Make sure that the error LED on the power supply is not lit and that the dc power LED and ac powerLED on the power supply are lit, indicating that the power supply is operating correctly.Store this document with the server for future use.

If you suspect a software problem, seethe documentation for the operating system or program.

Information about your IBM system and preinstalled software, if any, or optional device is available inthe documentation that comes with the product. That documentation can include printed documents,online documents, readme files, and help files. See the troubleshooting information in your systemdocumentation for instructions for using the diagnostic programs.
