Dear Parents of Legacy Christian Academy: Legacy strives to promote Christian service through such works as our students

ministry to a small Hispanic community, to area nursing homes, to Some Other Place, and to Bikes & Bibles, to name just a few. But, Legacy is not immune from evil, as our bold, unapologetic service to our Lord brings the attention of those powers of this dark world. When we face difficult times, know that challenges are not sent to destroy us. They are sent to promote, increase and strengthen us. Christ said, I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) At Legacy, we strive to instill spiritual strength through Christ, establish high moral character, and provide knowledge through a strong curriculum. Our students need to be prepared for this world, because we know they will be hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Cor.4:7-12) Legacy is not perfect, but we want every student to know Christ as their personal Savior and every parent to feel secure about the Christian environment at Legacy. Because the students are our primary concern, we need to inform all our students and parents of a serious situation. Late last year, a teacher resigned without notice or reason. Recently, a former student informed Legacy that this teacher had engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with her during the time she was a student at Legacy. We were also informed that a criminal investigation had begun. Be assured that we feel confident that there are no other students involved, and Legacy pledges its support and cooperation during the investigation. Of course, Legacy had no knowledge of this activity and condemns such behavior. Nothing is more important to Legacy than the safety and well-being of our students; Legacy has a zero tolerance policy for such inappropriate conduct, regardless of who is involved. We anticipate significant media coverage in the local newspapers and TV news. We also anticipate that parents and students will hear many false rumors, speculations, and innuendos concerning this incident. Please remember that, as Christians, it is not our place to pass judgment or engage in speculative gossip and rumor. We must love and pray for those involved, recalling the many instances of Christs forgiveness to each of us. Legacy understands the anguish and concern parents and students will experience over these allegations; we have pastors and counselors available to assist parents and students in dealing with this event. If parents wish to speak to the administration, please feel free to contact Dr. Roger Pricer or me at the school office number. We encourage everyone to be in prayer regarding this situation and ask for spiritual wisdom in dealing with this most difficult situation. Serving a Perfect Lord,
