In the year 1945, Gatbuca Primary School came into being. It was a two-room building where the primary grades I & II housed. The rooms were covered with coconut and banana leaves to protect the pupils from heat of the sun, when sunny days and from rains during wet season. The grade III & IV

pupils were housed in the chapel. During the middle part of the year 1947, the building was completed and another was constructed. So, the grades III & IV joined the grades I & II in the school compound. The pupils, in order to finish their intermediate education, they had to go to the Central School of Calumpit. In the year 1963 was a milestone in the history of the school since its foundation. It was during that year when grade V & VI curriculum was offered. This means that the pupils will no longer study & be enrolled in the town just to finish their elementary. It was in the year 1964 when the first graduation rite was held in the school. After that year, there was a marked increase in the school population as to the number of teachers. From seven teachers in 1964, it became seventeen teachers with seventeen classes. From Gatbuca Elementary School it was renamed to Don Arsenio Santos Memorial Elementary School and approved to known as ARSENIO SANTOS MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. More infrastructure supports had been carried out namely, construction of the new stage, additional new buildings, renovation of the old buildings & improvement of the school compound. All these are deemed expedient to the realization of the aim of the school producing better & prepared citizens of tomorrow.
