Notice of the meeting will be provided at a later date.Mayor Accardi announced that Councilmembers Yakubov, Torres and Storey were present via telephone conference.Mayor Accardi said we are declaring an emergency so we can discuss the situation withour Construction Code Services. The emergency has been advised by our Legal Counsel, who ishere this evening. It is in the public interest that we conduct this meeting at this time. He asked if anyone is opposed to the declaration of an emergency to have the meeting.Councilman Miranda moved to declare the emergency meeting; seconded by CouncilmanYakubov, all members present voting Aye, said motion was adopted.Discussion regarding termination of Agreement with Cranford and temporary thirty day basis hire of somebody else took place. The termination will be effective immediately; and Mayor Accardi said he has spoken to the Mayor of Cranford, and he is in agreement this will not be a problem. The only reason we need to terminate that Agreement before we move on to theappointment of a new Construction Code Official is because you cannot have two ConstructionCode Officials at the same time by law. That is why we have to terminate the Agreement withCranford and hire somebody else.Councilman Miranda made a motion to terminate the Agreement with Cranford;seconded by Councilman Yakubov, subject to the following formal resolution.RESOLUTION NO. 111-13BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Roselle Park, UnionCounty, New Jersey hereby terminate the Shared Service Agreement with the Township of Cranford for Construction Code Services effective May 20, 2013.
