Consortium of Institutions of Higher Learning

The Consortium of Institutions of Higher Learning (CIHL) is located at IIIT,
Hyderabad and manages the many-to-many relationships between universities. It co-
ordinates the creation and distribution of the content, quality control of the delivery,
assessment & certification and continuous improvement. It also develops new tracks
and courses based on emerging technologies.
Programme Delivery The Approach
Academic content
Apart from regular courses recorded at Carnegie Mellon and other
contributing universities, experts and professors from around the world
develop and deliver relevant customised courses exclusively for the
MSIT programme. These courses span Information Technology,
specialised domains and soft skills and are updated frequently.
Project centered curriculum
MSIT is based on Project-Centered Curriculum and it focuses on
projects that are inspired from corporate scenarios.The students work
in teams and they become part of the scenario. The teams will get
guidance from expert mentors. Media rich resources will help the teams
reach high levels of competence.Teams will go through the content and
equip themselves with the right skills. Mentors ensure smooth team-
work and interpersonal dynamics.
One-to-one mentoring
The programme does not rely on digital content alone. It combines the
strengths of sophisticated educational technologies and personalised
mentoring like a “gurukul”. The mentors of MSIT are highly qualified
with many of them trained at Carnegie Mellon University.
Learning by doing
The best way to learn is to do it. MSIT believes in this paradigm. Learning
by doing works as it strikes at the heart of basic memory process. In
learning by doing mode the learning gets enriched. Courses are offered
in sequential manner concentrating on one course at a time aiming to
attain a high level of excellence.

State of the art infrastructure

The students use laptops for performing their tasks, which are project
centric. Well established wired and wireless network ensures 24x7
availability of internet facility to the students. High end communication
mechanisms are used for collaborating with distributed teams across
learning centers.

B.Tech / B.E (All branches) or Equivalent Degree / Post
Graduates in Computer Science, Mathematics or
Statistics/ Pre-MSIT Graduates from 21st Century
Gurukulams, A.P.The duration of this programme is 2
years.
Domain specializations in Software Engineering, Computer
Networks and Security, e-Business Technologies and
Bio-Informatics, are available in the MSIT programme.

Certification
The programme is implemented jointly by several Universities
that contribute to the academic programme based on their
unique strengths and capabilities.At the end of the programme,
MSIT degree would be awarded by the University that hosts the
Learning Centre.
