ou’ve noticed it– the shadows lengtheningand the days growing shorter. The days arestill steamy, but there’s that little bit ofcoolness to the evenings. There’s a littlenostalgia as cooler air brings back childhood mem-ories – the excitement of returning to school tingedwith a little sadness at the end of summer fun.Summer is coming to an end, and with that endcomes the final Vacationer issue for the summer. But the change in seasons doesn’t bring an endto the fun here in the lakes area. Still ahead of us isfair time– 4-H exhibits, carnival rides and cottoncandy – an event that has always, to me, been thekickoff to autumn.Autumn. I love when fall brings crisp leaves thatcrunch under my shoes as I walk along the trail at a state park or listento the sound of geese as they gather for their southbound journey.Autumn also brings apple picking – crisp, juicy apples that makeyour mouth water – and the bounty of wonderfully fresh produce thatcan be found at local farmers’ markets.Maybe one of my favorite things about au-tumn are the bazaars and church suppers at thistime of year. Great crafts, great food, great people– what’s not to love?So browse through our final Vacationer and seewhat’s waiting for you. It’s a great time to be hereand you won’t be disappointed that you’ve decidedto spend these days with us.
