What is A Wordpress Weblog?

Wordpress is an online program that lets you create and
manage a weblog.

It is a website that allows you to post words, pictures, video
and audio files..

The web used to belong toothe r people, but now it belongs to
everyone!

Wordpress is allQoo\u2019s chosen platform, though there are many
others (blogger, typepad etc).

Click on the JOIN NOW button onhttp: //allQ oo .inf o home
page.

Type in the username and the password.
\u2022
Your username will form part of your blogs URL. Be careful
what you choose!
Writing A Post

Sign in <http: //allqoo. info/wp-login.php >

Click on thePo sts on the Dashboard, then Add New.
\u2022
The location will change on the tab bar.
\u2022

In the Title box, type a title for your post. Take time to
consider your title, remember, this is the first thing that
your readers will see. Think of it like a Newspaper headline.

In the Post box, type the content of your post. You can use
the tool bar to format your post (i.e. bold and italics etc).
This is similar to editing a Word document.

Once you have finished writing your post, you have two
options:

\u2018Save Draft\u2019 - this will save your post so far and allow you
to continue editing.
\u2022
To view your post, click the\u2018 Previ ew\u2019 link on the left panel
of the page.
\u2022
\u2018Publish\u2019 - once you are happy with your post click
publishes. This will publish your post on your web site.

\u2026.And! you should have your first blog post!

Changing Theme

On the dashboard, click the\u2018Appearan ce \u2019 button.
\u2022
You can then choose which theme you would like for your
blog.
\u2022
This page is full of mini pages that illustrate what the theme
looks like.
\u2022
Scroll down the list of themes and click on the one you would
like to use (you can easily change this later).
\u2022
At the top of the screen a box that says \u2018New theme
activated\u2019 will appear.
\u2022
Click \u2018View site\u2019 to see what your chosen theme looks like.
\u2022
You can repeat the process and try out other themes.
\u2022
Some themes allow you to insert your own images into the
header. See me if you would like to do this at a later point.
Adding Images or Files

Adding images or other content will make your posts more
interesting.
\u2022

When writing a post, scroll down the page. Below the post\u2019s
text box, you will see an\u2018Upload\u2019 box. This gives you the
ability to upload a file or Jpeg etc.

Click the\u2018Browse\u2019 button
\u2022
Select the file that you want to upload.
\u2022

Click\u2018Upload\u2019. The file will be uploaded. This file will now
remain in your wordpress account. You can use it in as many
posts and pages as you like.

To insert an image into a post, select it from the Upload box by
clicking on it.
\u2022
Choose where you want to display the image in your post by
clicking the\u2018Optio ns\u2019 on the right.

Now click \u2018Send to editor\u2019
\u2022
You will see the image in the post though it is probably not
where you would like it to be.

Click on the\u2018Image\u2019 once.
\u2022
Now click the\u2018Image\u2019 button on the tool bar (it is the one that
has a little picture of a tree on it).

A box will appear. Select the option that you wish to use (right
and left will display your image at the side of the post,
surrounded by text).

Click the\u2018Update\u2019 button on the box to make any changes.

Your image should now be updated.

You can now save your post or publish it!

Using Images That Are Already Online.

Find the online image that you want to use.
\u2022
Right click on the image (control click if you are using a Mac)
\u2022
From the menu that appears, select \u2018Copy image location\u2019 if
you are using a Mac.
\u2022

If you are using a PC, right click and then select\u2018Prop erties\u2019.
From the properties select the \u2018Address URL\u2019. (i.e. it should
look something like this-

Go to your Wordpress post and click on the\u2018Pictu re\u2019 button
on the tool bar.

A box will appear. Paste the location of the image into the
\u2018URL box\u2019

Now select how you would like to align your image (where you
want it in the post). Click the\u2018Update\u2019 button on the box.

Once you are happy, click\u2018Save\u2019 or\u2018Publi sh\u2019.

Click the view site button on the left hand top of the page.
Inserting Hyperlinks

One of the most useful and important things you can do on a
blog is link.
\u2022

Select/highlight the piece of text on the post or page that you
want to link. This might be a name, company or a place
etc.

Now click the \u2018Link\u2019 button on the tool bar (It looks like a little
chain).
\u2022

A box will open. In this box you will need to type the address
of the link (one of the best ways to make sure you have got
the correct link is to copy and paste it from the original
webpage).

Now choose whether you want the page to open in a new
window, should someone reading the text click it.
\u2022
Now click \u2018Insert\u2019.
\u2022
You can also use images as links.
\u2022
Click on the\u2018Image\u2019.
\u2022
Then click on the \u2018Link\u2019 button on the tool bar (following the
same directions above).

Once you are happy, click \u2018Save\u2019 or \u2018Publish\u2019.
\u2022
Click the \u2018View site\u2019 button on the left hand top of the page
and check that your link works.
