RECAP: DH Michael Morse hit a 2-run home run in the top of the 1st inning as Tacoma defeated
Tucson 4-2 on Monday night. Morse made his 1st rehab start with the Rainiers at DH, going 1-for-4
with 2-run home run. RF Carlos Peguero (2x4) and 1B Jesus Montero (2x4, R) each recorded 2 of
Tacomas 9 hits. Starter James Paxton (6.0,4,1,1,0,4) earned his 7th win of the season, allowing
only 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 7 in 6.0 innings. RH Stephen Pryor (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) tossed a 12-3 7th inning in his 2nd rehab appearance. RH Carter Capps (1.0,2,1,1,1,1,HB) allowed a run in
the 8th inning, while RH Logan Bawcom (1.0,1,0,0,0,2) recorded his 17th save of the season after
striking out 2 in a scoreless 9th inning.
REHAB ASSIGNMENT: OF Michael Morse began his rehab assignment with Tacoma on July 22.
Morse was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 22 (retro to 6/21) with a strained right quad
muscle. Morse has seen limited action since suffering a right quad injury May 28 vs. the Padres,
appearing in 11 games with the Mariners from May 28-June 21. For the season Morse is batting
.251 (52x207) with 11 home runs and 23 RBI in 56 games with Seattle. OF Franklin Gutierrez,
who had a day off yesterday, began his third rehabilitation assignment with Tacoma on July 19.
Overall he is batting .219 (23x105) with 18 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 home runs, 17 RBI, 9 walks
and 2 stolen bases in 25 games with AAA Tacoma. Gutierrez was placed on the 15-day DL on
June 25 with a strained right hamstring. He appeared in 2 games (June 22-23) after being activated
from the disabled list on June 22. Gutierrez was on the disabled list from April 23-June 21 with the
same injury (right hamstring strain). Gutierrez was batting .267 (15x60) with 8 runs scored, 4
doubles, 5 home runs (3 leadoff HR) and 11 RBI in 18 games (15 GS in CF) this season for Seattle.
This is the 6th trip to the DL for Gutierrez since the start of the 2011 season. RH Stephen Pryor
began his first rehab assignment on July 19. It 2 appearances with Tacoma he is 0-0 with a 0.00
ERA (0 ER, 2.0 IP). Pryor has not allowed a hit, while walking 1 and striking out 1 in 2.0 innings. He
also made a rehab start on July 16 with Short-A Everett, allowing 3 runs (2 ER) on 3 hits with 1
strikeout and 1 balk before being removed after reaching his pitch limit. Pryor was placed on the
15-day DL with a tear in his right latissimus dorsi muscle on April 15. Pryor appeared in 7 of
Seattles first 14 games this season. He did not allow a run in 7.1 innings while striking out 7 and
allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk.
OF NOTE: Since moving into first place on May 29, the Rainiers have now owned the top spot in
the division for 49 consecutive games. It is the longest Tacoma has held at least a share of first
place in the division since the 2005 Rainiers squad held down the top spot for 68 consecutive
games from May 4-July 18 of that season. The 55 wins the Rainiers have tallied marks the most
first-half victories collected by a Tacoma squad since the 2001 club recorded 58 wins before the
break. The 2001 team went on to win 85 games, the 3rd-most collected in franchise history. At the
time of the All-Star Break last season, the 2012 Rainiers were the owners of a 38-51 record and sat
14 games behind first-place Reno in the Pacific Northern standings. OF Stefen Romero has hit
safely in 15 of his last 18 games, batting .306 (22x72) with 10 runs scored, 6 doubles, 1 home run,
13 RBI, 4 RBI and 1 stolen base. He is the first Rainiers player to hit two or more grand slams in a
season since Mike Carp hit two in 2010 (5/11 at New Orleans & 7/8 at Tucson). OF Abraham
Almonte turned in his 16th multi-hit game on Saturday, and has now hit safely in 43 of 56 games
(w/AB) with the Rainiers. He leads the team with a .312 (62x199) batting average since making his
Triple-A debut on May 13. After tossing one scoreless inning on last night, RH Stephen Pryor has
not allowed a run through 18 career appearances (22.0 IP) with the Rainiers since his Triple-A
debut on May 8, 2012. LHP James Paxton recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts on June 22 vs.
Fresno. It marked his 9th career start recording at least 10 strikeouts (last: 11, 5/13/13 at New
Orleans). RHP Taijuan Walker tossed 14.0 scoreless innings over his first 3 AAA starts, before
allowing a solo home run in the 5th inning on July 7 at Salt Lake. Overall he is 2-0 with a 0.86 ERA
(2 ER, 22.2 IP) in 4 starts with Tacoma. He has limited opponents to a .184 (14x76) average, while
walking 7 and striking out 21. Walker is currently the youngest player in the PCL this season and
2nd-youngest in Triple-A. He made his Triple-A debut vs. Fresno on June 25 at Cheney Stadium
(W, 6.0,3,0,0,2,4). Walker is the youngest Rainiers pitcher to make his Triple-A debut since a 19year-old Felix Hernandez on April 8, 2005 at Fresno.
TRIPLE-A ALL-STAR GAME RECAP: Indianapolis Indians catcher Tony Sanchez's 2nd-inning 3run blast powered the visiting International League to a 4-3 victory over the Pacific Coast League
on Wednesday at the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game, hosted by the Reno Aces. Rainiers outfielder
Carlos Peguero walked in his only plate appearance, while finishing the game in right field. LH
Brian Moran (1.0,1,0,0,0,2) allowed 1 hit and struck out 2 in a scoreless 5th inning.

RECAP: The scheduled doubleheader Monday between the Jackson Generals and Mississippi Braves at The Ballpark in Jackson was
postponed due to rain and unplayable field conditions. The start time for Mondays game one was pushed back twice, before the field was
declared unplayable. The games will be made up when the Generals play a 5-game series in Mississippi, August 7-11.
OF NOTE: After allowing 5 runs over his first 6 appearances of the season, RH Carson Smith has allowed only 5 earned runs over his last
26 relief appearances. During this stretch he is 0-1 with 7 saves and a 1.61 ERA (5 ER, 28.0 IP). Since April 22, Smith has lowered his
ERA from 8.44 to 2.70. Smith has struck out at least 1 batter in 28 of 32 games, including recording 16 strikeouts over his last 10
appearances. LH Kyle Hunter has held oppoents scoreless in 20 of 24 relief appearances this season. Overall he is 1-0 with 1 save and a
1.19 ERA (5 ER, 37.2 IP). He has limited opponents to a .204 (28x137), while walking 8 and striking out 25. RH Tyler Burgoon has
allowed only 1 run over his last 17.1 innings in relief (12 G). During this stretch he has limited opponents to a .115 average (6x52), while
walking 8 and striking out 19. He has recorded at least 1 strikeout out in 22 of 25 appearances with Jackson (48 strikeouts overall),
including 8 outings with at least 3 strikeouts. SS Chris Taylor recorded his 100th hit of the season on June 30 vs. Birmingham. He was the
first Mariners farmhand to record at least 100 hits. After batting .172 (5x29) is his 8 games with Jackson, Taylor is batting .343 (24x70) with
12 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run, 7 RBI, 11 walks and 4 stolen base in last 18 games. During this 17-game stretch, since
June 29, Taylor has raised his average with Jackson from .172 t0 .293 and has the 2nd-highest average in the Southern League.
SOUTHERN LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME RECAP: The Southern League South All-Stars limited the North All-Start to only 1 hit in 6-0 win
on Wednesday night. The South used 11 pitchers and limited the North to 5 baserunners. It was the South's second straight All-Star win
after seven consecutive losses. Jackson outfielder James Jones (1x4, K) recorded the only hit for the North All-Stars, hitting a double to
right field to snap the no-hitter in the 5th inning. LHP Elias Roenis (1.0,2,0,0,0,2) allowed 2 hits and struck out 2 in a scoreless 2nd inning.
Jones was the only Generals player to appear in the game that was also managed by Jim Pankovits.

in 27 of 29 appearances this season (57), including 15 straight games with a strikeout (30). INF OF Jamal Austin has hit safely in 13 of his
last 15 games, batting .339 (20x59) with 14 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 triple, 11 RBI, 7 walks and 5 stolen bases. 3B Patrick Kivlehan has

RECAP: The LumberKings held a 1-0 lead after 4 innings, but allowed 7 runs over the final 5 innings as Clinton lost to Great Lakes 1-7 on
Monday afternoon. Starter Victor Sanchez (5.0,6,1,1,0,3) allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 5.0 innings, but didnt figure into the decision. RH David
Holman (1.2,5,3,3,1,1) recorded his 6th loss of the season, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings. RH Blake Holovach (1.1,2,1,1,0,0) and
RH Oliver Garcia (1.0,1,2,2,2,0,HR) combined to allow 3 runs over the final 2.1 innings in relief. C Tyler Marletter (2x4) recorded 2 of the
teams 4 hits, while SS Ketel Marte (1x3, R, BB) and LF Dario Pizzano (1x4, RBI) each contributed 1 hit.
OF NOTE: OF Gabriel Guerrero has hit safely in 21 of his last 27 games, batting .389 (37x95) with 12 runs scored, 6 doubles, 11 RBI, 4
walks and 5 stolen bases. Since June 9, Guerrero is batting .364 (48x132) with 16 runs scored, 9 doubles, 18 RBI, 5 walks and 5 stolen
bases. During this 36 game stretch he ranks T2nd in the Midwest League in average, while raising his season average from .215 to .275.
INF Tim Lopes is batting .339 (20x59) with 5 runs scored, 2 doubles, 9 RBI, 2 walks and 1 stolen base in 17 games in July. OF Dario
Pizzano has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games, batting .341 (14x41) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 6 RBI, 7 walks and 2 stolen bases. In
12 starts this year, Victor Sanchez is 2-4, 2.75 ERA (21 ER, 68.2 IP). After going 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA (9 ER, 14.0) in 3 starts from June
30-July 11, he has allowed only 1 run over his last 14.0 innings (0.64 ERA).
SANCHEZ NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RH Victor Sanchez was named Midwest League Player of the Week, 5 days after he
tossed the 7th 9-inning no-hitter in franchise history. Sanchez, 18, no-hit the Lansing Lugnuts in Clinton's 1-0 win on Wednesday night at
Ashford University Field. In the dominant performance against Lansing, Sanchez did not walk a batter and struck out a season-high 8. He
hit a batter in the first inning then retired 20 straight before a pair of errors allowed 2 baserunners in the 8th. In 77 years of baseball in
Clinton, it marks the 22nd time a pitcher has tossed a no-hitter. Sanchez is the youngest to accomplish the feat. It is the 2nd such honor for
a LumberKings player this year; Jabari Henry took home the award in early May.

RECAP: For the 2nd consecutive night the AquaSox were limited to only 3 hits as Everett was shutout by Boise 10-0 to finish the first half.
3B Bryan Brito (1x4), 1B Reggie Lawson (1x3) and 2B Lonnie Kauppila (1x3) each recorded 1 of Everetts 3 hits. Starter Thyago Vieira
(4.0,10,5,5,0,6) recorded his 2nd loss of the season, after allowing 5 runs on 10 hits in 4.0 innings. LH Nick Valenza (2.0,0,0,0,0,1) struck
out 1 in 2.0 hitless innings, while RH Tommy Burns (2.0,5,5,3,1,1,HR) allowed 5 runs (3 ER) over 7th and 8th innings.

The U.S. beat the World 4-2 in the All-Star Futures Game at Citi Field in New York. RH Taijuan Walker pitched a scoreless 2nd inning,
allowing no hits and 1 walk. 1B Ji-Man Choi went 0-for-2 for the World Squad. Arizona minor-leaguer Matt Davidson hit a two-run homer
for the U.S., and Cubs prospect Arismendy Alcantara homered for the World team.
Seattle Mariners minor league pitcher Taijuan Walker and shortstop Brad Miller were selected to play for the U.S. squad in the 15th
annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game to be played today at Citi Field in New York City as part of All-Star weekend.This is Walkers
second consecutive selection on the All-Star Futures roster.
INF Ji-Man Choi was added to the World team as a replacement for Rangers catcher Jorge Alfaro, who broke his hand when he was hit by
a pitch on Friday. SS Brad Miller was replaced on the U.S. team by D-backs shortstop Chris Owings, since Miller won't be eligible to play
now that he's on the Major League roster.
Tacoma Rainiers hitting coach Howard Johnson will be part of the U.S. coaching staff.
