annual Casas for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) has announced this
playhouse and doghouse raffle winners. Six local builders designed, built, decorated and donated custom playhouses and doghouses that were raffled off to lucky winners on July 20. The custom doghouses were a newitem this year and received great response.All proceeds from the raffle benefit CASA of the South Plains and the local foster children they serve. This
year’s event raised more than $20,000 for the non

CASA trains and supports volunteers who help abused and neglected children navigate the foster care system. In order to bea volunteer, thirty hours of combined class time, home study, and hands-on training must be completed per National CASAstandards. CASA currently serves more than 300 children in the foster care system. Children with advocates spend anaverage of five months less in care than children without one.When home is no longer safe for a child, and the child must enter the foster care system, a judge may appoint a committedvolunteer called a CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocate®. The volunteer assists in navigating the way for abusedand neglected children
of the complex, overburdened child welfare system and
safe, permanent homes.
