"Does the Catholic Church believe in asking Mary and the Saints to pray for us? Yes. Are Catholics required to do so? No." The comparison states that "it is Necessary" not required; however, according to Scripture it is unbiblical. CCC846, claims those who reject it, or refuse to stay in it, "could not be saved". "so I think you should refrain from representing Catholic teachings in an authoritative manner." The only authority I teach is Scripture. All doctrine including that of Catholicism must undergo the Biblical test. If there is contradiction, it is to be exposed. I don't represent Catholic teachings I expose them and do so with Scripture and Documentation from the Catholic Church. Let's let all who study this compare it with Scripture to see what is true...

Are there 73 books in the complete Bible? Yes. Were the extra ones added by the Council of Trent? No, those books were in the Bible before Trent. The Protestants removed them from their Bibles. Does the Catholic Church believe in asking Mary and the Saints to pray for us? Yes. Are Catholics required to do so? No. The last comment is not a simple matter to explain. I may not be capable of explaining it. I think this is one of the primary difficulties between Catholics and other Christians, the concept of "church." CCC 816 refers to "The sole Church of Christ." Jesus established one church, His church. All salvation comes from Jesus through His one church. The Catholic Church claims to be that one, sole Church of Christ. I imagine you disagree with that. I believe that any follower of Jesus needs to discern to the best of their ability which one of the thousands of Christian churches is the real sole Church of Christ. Nonetheless, the Catholic Church recognizes that the Holy Spirit can work wherever He wants to bring about the salvation of souls. As as example, this is from a document from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith: Notwithstanding the explicit affirmation that the Church of Christ “subsists” in the Catholic Church, the recognition that even outside her visible boundaries “many elements of sanctification and of truth”[6] are to be found, implies the ecclesial character — albeit diversified — of the non-Catholic Churches or ecclesial Communities. Neither are these by any means “deprived of significance and importance” in the sense that “the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as means of salvation.” http://www.ewtn.com/library/CURIA/cdf... My ignorant comment was a bit aggressive. I apologize. What I meant by using that word was uninformed. I don't think you are well informed about Catholic teachings, so I think you should refrain from representing Catholic teachings in an authoritative manner.

Sorry Bill, If you read to the bottom of the comparison you will see the "Documentation From The Catholic Church". They do indeed teaches these Doctrines, even if they are not commonly taught. Ignorance is being lead by the blind.

This contains several errors. The Bible has a different number of books because the Protestants removed books that conflicted with their false doctrines, not because Catholics added books in 1546. Praying to Mary or any saints is not required or necessary. The Catholic Church does not teach that only its members are able to be saved. That's just what I see at first glance. If you want to know what the Catholic Church teaches, read the Catechism. Don't listen to ignorant people like this person.
