Responsibilities
Committed to the mission of AVANCE
The board creates and review a statement of mission and purpose that articulates the organization's goals, means, and primary constituents served.

Support and evaluate the CEO


The board ensures that the chief executive has the moral and professional support he or she needs to further the goals of the organization.

Ensure effective planning


Our boards must actively participate s in an overall planning process and assists in implementing and monitoring the plan's goals.

Ensure adequate financial resources


One of the board's foremost responsibilities is to assist in securing the adequate resources for the organization to fulfill its mission.

Protect assets and provide proper financial oversight


Our board assists in developing the annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place.

Build a competent board


All boards have a responsibility to articulate prerequisites for candidates, orient new members, and periodically and comprehensively evaluate their own performance.

Enhance AVANCEs public standing


The board should clearly articulate the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.

Serve on a board committee

Attend and participate in quarterly meetings

Participate in the annual strategic planning AVANCE retreat

Conflict of Interest Policy


AVANCE Inc. receives donations and grants from a variety of sources. Our organizations ethics standard is to conduct itself beyond reproach. As such we ask our Board Members to sign a Conflict of Interest form which is required by some of our donors.

Confidentiality Agreement
Many issues that come before our board deal with personnel issues, finances and other items which should be treated with extreme confidence. We ask that each of our Board members sign our Confidentiality Agreement.

Board members are expected to be zealous advocates on behalf of AVANCE Inc., enthusiastic communicators of our mission and vision, and to play an integral role in leadership and outreach activities. - Dean Aguillen, Chairman of the Board
