As I browse the forums, the onequestion I often see popping upfrom newcomers, is alwayssome variation of
“
What is thebest way/method/technique tomodel . . . (insert relevantobject here)? Or even moregeneric question like
“
What isthe best way to model?
”
Iremember my own frustrationin finding the perfect answer tothat question and sympathizewith newcomers who arecurrently trying to find theperfect method and workflow. The short answer is . . .
“
whatever method works bestfor your purpose and personalworkflow
”
Not real helpful, now is it? Unfortunately, thelong answer is not much better. The reason being that is time, experience and massiveexperimentation is generallyrequired in order to decide onan object by object basis whichmethod works best for you. Notexactly something a newcomerwants to hear.Well in this issue we will shed alittle light on which techniquesto use and when, keeping inmind that anything can becreated using any of thetechniques available in Blender, but some techniques lendthemselves more readily tocertain types of models. Andwhile this is obviously helpfulto the newcomer, even themore experienced among uswill benefit from beingreminded that there is alwaysmore than one way to model anobject. As much as we rely on favoritemodeling techniques, we oftenfind some tasks are either toodaunting, repetitive or just apain to complete manually.Enter Python scripts to therescue. Python scripts allowgreater flexibility and adduseful functions and featuresto the Blender workflow. Thisissue we will explore some ofthese wonderful little scriptsand show just how they canmake your life easier.
