Cut a length of stem from a disease free, strong branch. Cut a piece from this stem approximately 9 with a clean straight edge at the base. Cut a downward diagonal slant ending above a bud or node for a bud. Trim the bark off the bottom of the cutting to reveal the green pericycle. Dip the base end into hormone powder. Shake off the excess powder. Push the base of the cutting into compost leaving 1/3 length above the compost. Place outside for the winter months. It could take until the following autumn for the cutting to grow roots.
