 Youth Service Day Participation Sets Records
!
A record number of 510 Rock County youth participated in National Youth Service Day onApril 18! This number included a record number of 4-H clubs, including Avon 4-H, Badger4-H, Bradford 4-H, Center 4-H, Clinton 4-H, Consolidated 4-H, Evansville 4-H, Harmony 4-H,Johnstown 4-H, LaPrairie 4-H, Magnolia 4-H, Milton 4-H and Turtle 4-H. That’s one-half ofthe 4-H clubs in the county!The youth were involved in a variety of service activities, such as cleaning up at the TallmanHouse, organizing food donations at ECHO, sprucing up local cemeteries and raking at theRock County Fairgrounds. The morning’s activities were followed by a celebration at theCraig Center where the youth shared their experiences with each other, had some lunch andparticipated in drawings for door prizes. It was a great day for all!Youth Service Day in Rock County is coordinated by Julie Cunningham of the United Way ofNorth Rock County’s Volunteer Network, and the Rock County 4-H Ambassador Team.Special thanks to those 4-H Ambassadors who got donations, helped with the lunch, set upand/or cleaned up the Craig Center: Jessica Alf, Briana Bader, Erica Ballmer, Ellen Check,Katie Demrow, Lexi Gegare, Audrey Hurley, Kathryn Johnson, Tyler Long, Aaron Messier,Lauren Metcalf, Abbey Millard, Autumn Quinn, Roxanne Reisem and Nichole Wilson.
Congratulations to Wisconsin 4-H Scholarship Recipient!
Rock County 4-H had many youth apply for Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Scholarships this year,and we are pleased to announce that one of our youth is receiving a scholarship! Jordan Alf,Consolidated 4-H, is the recipient of the 4-H Community Service Scholarship sponsored bythe Francis & Phyllis Conrad 4-H Scholarship Fund. There were nearly 600 applicants for 16Wisconsin 4-H Foundation scholarships this year, so receiving one is quite an achievement!Congratulations, Jordan!

Senior Council Meeting
The 4-H Senior Council will meet onMonday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. in thecourthouse. Several items of businessregarding the Rock County Fair will bediscussed, so every club should berepresented at this meeting! All clubchairs, co-chairs, advisory board membersand other adult leaders are invited andencouraged to attend.
Cloverbud Judges Needed!
If you are interested in judgingCloverbuds on Tuesday, July 23 please goonline atwww.uwex.edu/ces/cty/rock/orcall Carol at the 4-H Office for anapplication. Youth should be 16 and have adesire to help our young people talk abouttheir fair projects in a positiveenvironment. Also you should be availableto meet on Monday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m.for an orientation/scheduling meeting.
Jr. Council Historian Book
Roxanne Reisem, Historian, is looking forhelp from any club leaders or memberswho have photos of youth leaders in actionleading meetings, working on projects orhelping with community service. She is incharge of developingthe annual Jr. Council Historian Book andwould appreciate any photos you couldprovide. Please contact her at 882-6673.

The Rock County 4-H Camp Staff Team ishaving a Scoopie Night at the Milton Ave.Culver’s in Janesville on Wednesday, June10. Just come to that Culver’s between4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. for a treat, asnack or a meal, and 10% of the sales willbe donated to 4-H Camp…PLUS you willhave the pleasure of having your foodserved by a member of the 4-H CampStaff Team! The proceeds will helpoffset the costs of 4-H Camp. So join usfor a meal before your 4-H Softball gamethat evening and/or a treat afterward!
Attention 4-H Campers!
If you registered for Summer Camp, youshould receive a confirmation letter in themail by mid June. If you submitted aregistration for 4-H Camp and do notreceive a confirmation letter by mid-June,please call Carol at 757-5690 to check on your registration.At the beginning of August, all camperswill receive a letter and health form forcamp. The letter will explaintransportation details and include a list ofwhat to pack and what not to pack.Outpost campers will receive a separateletter explaining their camping experiencein more detail.
