Hands & Feet
By John Porter, Director of Missions and Local Outreach
We are blessed at FFC to have people who enjoy putting theirspiritual gifts and talents into action. We had over 120 individu-als sign up to serve as “Hands & Feet” to meet the 13 specificrequests we focused on. Needless to say, we could not put all of you to work, but we accomplished and even surpassed our goals.Thank you for your willingness to serve!
Takin’ It to the Streets
With the end of the school year and summer coming, we aregearing up for another Takin’ it to the Streets outreach and wouldlike to encourage each of you to choose from the opportunitiesthat will be available including:Oakridge fishingFlyer distribution for Father’s DayJr. AAU track & field at Drake stadiumBack to School Bash at Oakridge
Don’t Be Left Behind
Last week six individuals took a step of obedience by beingbaptized. They ranged in age from 8 to 83 years old and includedtwo high school students and an engaged couple. The Bible tells us that God desires for all to know Him(1 Timothy 2:4) and to grow in His likeness. Part of growing inthe image of Jesus is growing in our obedience. Being baptizedis part of that obedience for all believers. Jesus (in Matthew28:18–20) indicates that a significant part of being His follower isbeing baptized. If you’ve not taken this step of obedience—whether you are8 or 80—you can! Simply check the box on the Care & Com-munication card this morning to be included in our next baptismorientation group.Consider volunteering atour weekly Oakridge KidsCount or one of the upcom-ing special events:Church PicnicSports CampArts CampBeaverdale ParadeAt the end of His time onearth, Jesus told His follow-ers to go out into the streetsof the world and make disciples. The way Jesus says it, indicatesHis expectation that your going out into the world would be acommon, ongoing part of your experience as a follower of Jesus. To help facilitate this experience we will sponsor a number of Takin’ it to the Streets outreach efforts again this summer. Whilethese are not meant to take the place of your individual efforts toinvest in relationships with unchurched people you know, theseactivities are a wonderful way for you to join in the collective ef-forts of this church body to impact those surrounding the church, and neighborhood.Listed below is a brief schedule of summer events scheduledfor June.

The Power of the Church
Baby BottleBlessing Update
We started our BBB Kickoff on Mother’sDay with 698 baby bottles. Over the firsttwo Sundays, a total of 361 bottles have beenpicked up by our FFC family. That is goodbut we can do better, don’t you think? Wehave 337 bottles yet to be snatched up to helpAGAPE Pregnancy Center and Birthright.Let’s show them what First Federated Churchcan do!If you have not picked up a baby bottle yet, they are availableat the table next to the Missions table in the foyer.Baby Bottle Ingathering is Father’s Day, June 21. For thosewho wish to return their bottles earlier, there are two locationsfor your convenience.
Return bottles to:
The table next to the missions display in the foyerThe table in the hallway as you leave Franklin Hall
There will be a person at each table to assist in this process.
For such a time as this: It was exciting to learn a new Galluppoll shows that 51 percent of Americans identify themselves aspro-life. This is a significant increase from last year when 50 per-cent considered themselves pro-choice and 44 percent pro-life.Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, gives credit to ultrasounds being available to women. When theysee there is a baby instead of a blob, their decision making ismuch easier.
