day of the court trial, the Burmese junta stepped back to their usual practice byholding a closed-door trial over Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and prohibiting foreign diplomatsand journalists from entering into the court.Detailed Situation of the Court Trial
 
The court trial over Daw Aung San Suu Kyi started at 10 a.m. for the 4
th
consecutive day.The junta brought four new plaintiffs to the court to testify their accounts on the case.Moreover, the court continued to hear the confession of one of the two plaintiffs whocouldn’t fully testify his account due to the time limitation yesterday. Until now, 12 outof 22 plaintiffs testified their accounts to the court.
 
The Burmese junta held a closed-door trial and prohibited foreign diplomats and journalists from entering into the court. The junta allowed the diplomats to meet DawAung San Suu Kyi only one day on May 20. Although the National League forDemocracy called for an open public trial, the authorities totally ignored its demand.
 
The plaintiffs submitted to the court a video footage and photos recorded by Mr. Yettawwho took these records without permission from Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. No picture of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Daw Khin Khin Win and Daw Win Ma Ma appeared in thevideo footage and photos. Mr. Yettaw’s intention of recording is just to record theevidence of his arrival to her house.
 
Today’s court section took more time than yesterday because there were questions andanswers between the lawyers of the defendants and the plaintiffs, but detailed informationremains unknown.
 
The National League for Democracy issued Statement 10/05/09 on May 21 to explain thesituation of the court trial over Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Daw Khin Khin Win, Daw WinMa Ma and Mr. John W. Yettaw.
