For example, there are many of us who like to please other folks. Some do it because they were taught that way. Society tends to smile on it, to encourage it. Churches certainly do, too.

But, what about that? What about the many people-pleasers out there, who are really not very happy folks? How helpful is it to them, and why or why not? What I saw was how it depended on where the urge to please, to serve others, came from – whether from deep within, or from the mind. Mind Mimics Heart ~ Just Be Aware
Here's another odd one – a journal where the
title came first.
Let's see what else is in here to illustrate that. What I received isa
quick sort of vision
of how that works. For example, there aremany of us who like to
 please other folks.
Some do it becausethey were taught that way. Society tends to smile on it, toencourage it. Churches certainly do, too. But, what about that? What about the many people-pleasers outthere, who are really
not
very happy folks? How helpful is it tothem, and why or why not? What I saw was how it depended on
where
the urge to please, to serve others, came from – whetherfrom
deep within
, or from the
mind
. As you might have guessed, the mind-originated urge isn't the one I tend to trust.
Mind
really
wants to serve
– it wants to serve us in its own rathertwisted way – for in reality, mind has
us serving it
. Do you seehow that works? How mind tends to beat up on us,
berating,scolding, driving us on
with endless to-do lists? I hold mind

guiltless for this, by the way. That's how it was taught. What elseshould it do, after all?Until we
unwind the tangles
and knots of our psyches we'll tendto go around in rather
misguided
ways. Can't be helped. The
scrapes
it gets us into are supposed to be that which
wakes us up
to the need to look into things – the need to change something, though we know not what. Scrapes are Source's gentle ways of
getting our attention
when we're not in the Heart and within reachof the still, quiet voice. So our
parents were schooled in this
sort of behavior beforeus, and they, too, did their best by us, teaching us what theythought was
best
. Actually, according to them, they
knew
it wasbest, but we'll let that one go. The point is that they, too, are
innocent
of any wrong-doing in this coiled-up mess. The same goes for our
school teachers
and later professors.Everyone is giving of their best, going only by what
they
weretaught before us, so
no one
has set out to do us any harm. Wecan even leave aside the whole rank & file of TPTW (The Powers That Were) structure for now, as it doesn't apply. They may havedesigned most of the messes into society, but that
doesn'tmatter
right now.Why would that be? Simply because, regardless of HOW it got tobe that way,
we are changing it.
It won't be like that muchlonger, so the how just isn't relevant to what we're looking at,here. So we start out with, if not exactly the
blank
slate, then at leastone where all are
equally held harmless.
There is no axe togrind, no one to set out to blame or punish for the mess we findthings in. That, too, is pointless when clearly what needs doing issimply to
change things
from the way that they are – which isquite dysfunctional – into a much better way. The more we keep our attention on
Now
– on what Now calls for –the more
effective
will be our efforts to bring that change. Let ussettle down into Heart and do what we can to remain there – forthe duration – or at least for the duration of the journal. Beyondthat, though, it's also a great possibility for a new way to live – tobring further change of the best kind.

Let us get down to
basic structures
– to the
fundaments
at hand.Since
Pluto square Uranus
is pushing against all structures, let'stake a look at ours. What have we got, down there in thebasement, forming the foundation of our way of life? What havewe been
hiding from ourself
by not going down there and doingour housework? Better we find out this way than some other thatlife brings our way.First off, it's important to
remember just Who we are
. Neitherbody nor mind defines us –
no
do they
contain
us. It turns outthat we more accurately contain them. There's a
mind pretzel
for you. As awareness or consciousness, we
aren't limited
to theform of our body-mind avatar – not at all. So let's plug in, first off,to
our divine identity
. That always helps
shift our perspective
 significantly.Knowing Who we are, the
next
important step I see is achieving a
right relationship between self and mind
. The way societyhas mind in charge of most things – well, pretty much everything –has
not
been working, it's plain to see. What I've found moreuseful is to retain mind's services, but
more as an adviser thanas a boss
– which is just how things are today for most of us.Now, if you think that
doesn't
describe you, then maybe back up afew steps from that. First of all, any answer that pops up in yourhead right away is likely from mind. Clearly, mind is
not
suitableto answer for this one, since mind is the subject of the inquiry.Let us settle
down deeper
, within, as we take another look.
Self-observing
will be most helpful here. Have a look at
yourgeneral self-talk
to start out. What is that like? What tone doesit take? Is it at all
loving
and
respectful
? If it is, then you're afirst. For most people it is downright
rude
, even abusive. Mindwon't want you to see this – won't want to admit it – but if you lookfrom Heart it will be clear. The first one we've got to start being
totally honest with is the
self

– but of course. If we can't do that, then we have no honestyto share with anyone else and we're just
fooling ourself
. Whilethat may have been the case – may even be the case right up tothis point – there's
no reason
it must continue. If you say “stop”then it must.
