The Impact of Computational Fluid Dynamics on Industrial Processes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has seen phenomenal growths

in recent times. We are now seeing CFD overtaking the industrial processes in modern industries. CFD is slowly but gradually growing and we can already see that there are lots of disciples that have evolved in this process which have been useful in resolving problems related to transport processes: fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reactive flow, and multiphase flow. CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is the numerical solution that deals with the mass, momentum, and energy consumption equations with properly defined boundary conditions. Process equipment usually operates with multiple phase modeling rather than single phase. It is also much more complex than single phase modeling. Although general mathematical description of multiphase flow is well known, it is impossible to solve all the conversation equations numerically without generalization. There are two types of methods which are used in engineering and science: Methods based on streamlined model representation Methods of direct numerical recreation

The methods based on streamlined model representation concentrate on macro scale procedures and global flow outlines. While direct numerical recreation concentrate on micro scale procedures and global flow outlines. For example; behavior of distinct detached phase particles. The first method is used when the computational sphere is large; while the second method is used when the computational sphere is small. We are also seeing Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) rapid developing in the last couple of years. DNS is used to solve the equations for all phases without simplifying assumptions. There are certain DNS methods which are based on direct solution of the conversation equations for all the components of a flow system. The other DNS is based on plagiarized ideas from statistical mechanics. In a perfect world, all three simulations micro, meso, and macro are associated for multi-scale method in large scale industrial procedures.
