Aw shucks
The New Brighton Eagles club fed folks last Stockyard Dayswith grilled food and corn on the cob. The demand for corn keptEagles boosters shucking all day.
Whether you’re a fan of antique cars or anavid golfer, Stockyard Days will have it all.The 33rd annual Stockyard Days, Aug. 4-12,will once again provide fun entertainment forthe community of New Brighton.“The whole event encompasses the historyof the city, whether it be the Antique Car Runor the musical entertainment,” Vice Presidentof Stockyard Days Bruce Nelson said. “It’s awonderful getaway for families, and they don’t’even have to leave the city.”
Golf tournament
Stockyard Days will kick off with the annualgolf tournament, the Corral Open, on Sunday,Aug. 4, at the Brightwood Hills course onSilver Lake Road. Teams consist of four people,and the cost is $100 per team.The tournament includes nine holes of golf,food, beverages and prizes for the longest drive,longest putt and closest to pin contests. Teetimes are 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Kiddie parade and movie
Kids can decorate their bikes and get cre-ative with costumes to take part in the kiddieparade on Wednesday. The parade starts at 6:30p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumeand best decorated bike.Afterwards, bring blankets or chairs to endthe night with a movie in the park. The kid-favorite movie ET will play. Veterans Park islocated on Old Highway 8, right behind the New Brighton City Hall.
