The D.C. Center for the LGBT Community announced last week that it has put on holdthe renovation of the space into which it planned to move in September in the city’sReeves Center municipal building following news one day earlier that the building willlikely be demolished in three years.Mayor Vincent Gray and at least three of his top aides said the city would help the D.C.Center find a new location if and when the Reeves building closes.
Demonstrators held a small protest on Wednesday across from the Russian embassyon Wisconsin Avenue.

LGBT rights advocates remain dividedover calls to boycott the 2014 WinterOlympics in Russia and Russian vodkain response to the country’s gay rightsrecord.Author Dan Savage, LGBT rightsadvocate Cleve Jones and the groupQueer Nation last week launched the“Dump Russian Vodka” campaignthat calls for a boycott of Stoli, RussianStandard and other Russian vodkabrands. The campaign also urges the U.S.and other countries to boycott the 2014Winter Olympics that will take place inSochi, Russia, in February.“Do not drink Russian vodka,” Savagesaid in an op-ed in the Stranger, a weeklynewspaper in Seattle, published on July24. “Do not buy Russian vodka.
