Her Way
A short bob cut,A golden threaded dress,A hat with feathers,All mad up her outfit. She stood reading a book,Halfway into her purse,Almost hidden behind her gloves,A book from a black poet.Oh, such an amazing set of words. It touched her heart. The men in town would despise her.Not that it mattered to her.A coach stopped near her.In an instant the book was behind her.She took a few careful steps away.A man stepped out of the coach. She gasped as she recognized him.Her hands shook in her white gloves.Luckily her sleeves came down to her wrists.Cream colored lace covered the skin that wasexposed. Turning her back to him, she walked away.“Miss!?” the man said.Pretending she couldn’t hear him,Rosalie continued walking.

A hand touched her arm.She jumped, surprised.Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw him.“You dropped this Miss.”In his hand was her purse.Rosalie almost gasped of fear.If he had went through it,He would have known who she was.Closing her book with one hand,She held her other out. The man hesitated, before giving her purse to her.“Your name, Miss?”Rosalie took a deep breath. She was positive he would know her voice. But, it would be quiet rude to not answer.“Rose,” she replied in a whisper. The man nodded once. Her whisper had disguised her voice.“You might want to be more careful Miss Rose,”His voice was gentle.“Some wouldn’t give it back.”Rosalie nodded once.“Thank you, sir.”Her voice was just a murmur. With her purse around her wrist,She gave him a small bob of a curtsy.
