This article describes in brief some of the steps to be taken if you experiencedifficulty in sending or receiving emails.
There could be several reasons for emails connecting problems.Almost everyone at some point has a problem with their basic connection. The firstthing you should do is to check on the Internet connection. (Just to make doublysure, go to websites you have not visited for a couple of months)Next would be to double check on the configuration settings, the server names, emailaddresses and the most common - the user name! Here are some troubleshooting suggestions for several common email connectionproblems
Connection check:
If you haven't received email and want to check the health of your connection, follow the steps below:

Network check:
Send a message to any address that will return a response -automatic help address, auto-responder or an incorrect address. If you get an emailback, your email and Internet connections are fine.(An auto-responder automatically provides information to anyone who emails)
Email client:
This needs to be correctly configured to work properly. Each emailapplication has Settings, Options, Preferences, or similar menu item under the Editor Tools menu. The best advice for initial configuration of your email client is to followthe instructions of your Internet Service Provider, who will usually provide telephonehelp with setup of email settings for most common email clients.

Server check:
Try a local connection check by sending an email to yourself. If youcan receive your own email, but not external mail, then your server can't accessInternet for some reason. If you can't send email to yourself, you have aconfiguration problem. Contact your email provider for assistance.
Send problems:
There could be so many reasons for this:
Send on check:
Email servers are configured to use password authentication beforesending mail, and therefore require mail to be checked at the same time or justbefore sending mail. If you get an intermittent error message and can send at sometimes and not others, make sure the option 'send on check' is enabled in your emailsettings.
