About this ebook
A set of 119 color prints from negatives exposed by an untrained amateur was judged for “quality” by a panel of eight observers, intentionally selected for their differing levels of photographic sophistication and emotional involvement in picture content. This experiment documents a strong dependence of judgment of picture quality on the attributes of the observer.
For 42 years the author of this paper was a research scientist in the Eastman Kodak Research Laboratories in Rochester, NY.
