At the Board meeting of April 24, the issue was discussed as an on-table agenda item, and at that time, | committed to referring the matter back to Councils to ensure that any Metro Vancouver ‘municipality that was interested in hosting the pretrial centre had an opportunity to bring that interest forward to the Mayors Committee. The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to solicit expressions ot interest from municipalities that may be to provide a site for the pretrial centre. Please note that the Ministry has established a number of specific suitability criteria that any proposed site for the pretrial centre must meet before it can be considered. Those criteria are outlined in detail on page 4 of the attached backgrounder on the Lower Mainland Pretrial Centre, which was developed by the Corrections Branch of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. if your municipality would like to be considered as a potential host community for the new pretrial centre, please indicate your interest via retum letter or e-mail to Simon Cumming, Metro Vancouver Corporate Relations (simon.cumming @metrovancouver.ora). twill be convening a meeting of interested municipalities and to ensure that we are property prepared for that meeting, | am requesting that you forward your response to Metro Vancouver by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15. | will have Metro Vancouver staff confirm the date and time of that meeting by the end of next week.
