and grabbed the first suit his hands could locate in the closet. Hebrushed his teeth quickly, rushing the comb through his hair withouteven trying to make his hair look presentable and didn’t even bother tomatch his shoes according to his suit. James dressed quickly, gatheringhis things together, about ready to leave the house, stopping, turning, and gave a long kiss to the robed Colleen who stood behind him to seehim out.“I’ll be back soon, I promise.” He placed his hand on her cheek inan attempt to reassure her. Her blue-gray eyes looked grayer in thechange of her emotions. “I promise. I love you.”“Love you too. Drive safe.” James gave her another kiss, a quicker one, before turning andlimping down the stairs two steps at a time. Colleen watched with herhand on her collarbone to support the blue robe as James drove downthe street. She frowned again before turning back inside. With a screech of his tires, James slid into the parking spacemeant for him. He rushed into the elevator in the lobby, shaking outhis umbrella before shutting it again, pressing the button for the thirdfloor. James held his briefcase in his hand and rolled his eyes up tostare at the ceiling. The shining double doors began to close but Jamespressed the door open as a man frantically approached the elevatorwith his arms outstretched. The man, dressed in a plaid flannel shirt and jeans, huffedslightly when inside the closed space. His old boots matched the oldblack cowboy hat on his head and the old black guitar case in his hand. The rugged red beard on his face made it impossible to tell whetherthe man was skinny or not since his clothes were much too big for him.His watery green eyes were slightly red, whether from irritation ortiredness, James was unsure. The man finally caught his breath, saying,“Thank you.”James smiled politely. “Your welcome. What floor?”
