Escape from gravity
Message history
Question:
From Panneer Selvam, on 2009-05-25: ( scribd) is there any way an object in earth can escape from gravity, so that we don’t need anyfuel(or less) to put rocket on space?

Answer
: from Balungi Francis , bfrancis@tech.mak.ac.ug,faculty of Technology , Makerere University, p.o.Box. 7062 kampala Uganda.
To explain this to you will require more time, but let me just introduce a bit of it in simpleterms. To create a non gravity means creating a no gravity field for the entire earth butnot part of it, that is why it is difficult to create a non gravity area on the earth sincegravity is everywhere on the earth surface and acts towards the center of mass. May be if  possible you can remove this mass and then the result will be you floating in space hencemaking it easy for your rockets to move at any speed ( where is life? or what can distractthe earth into nothing?).Objects from the earth can escape from gravity only if the force acting against gravity arehigher than the gravity forces acting upon the body to move it downward onto the earthsurface. Fuel has been used to provide a repulsive force in rockets that acts againstgravity to make the rockets move through space with ease (launch of rockets). What else can be done without fuel? Are we sure that what we experience is agravitational force? Are the structures or shapes of our rockets relevant? The first idea will be to build ellipsoidal kind of rockets, quote me right, they shouldn’t be circular, spherical, linear as they are today. The reason for this is that , since gravityacts at the center of mass of the body, for the case of an ellipse it will be shifting awayfrom the center at all instants, and note also the distance from the surface of the ellipsoidto the its center is not the same. Also as the rocket will be moving its poles will beflattening. Consequently from a theoretical point of view the gravity at the poles of therocket (North-South and West – East) will not be the same, hence leading to variations ingravity at the surfaces of the rocket.

The second idea will be to provide air moving at higher speeds (almost close to that of light) downward the rocket (rocket base- it should be slip, smooth and flat surface), whilethe rocket is being held by heavy stands some distance from the earth’s surface. This can be explained by Bernoulli’s principle (states that as the speed of a moving fluid increases, the pressure within the fluid decreases).According to Bill Beaty,
,Airfoils are curved on topand flat below, and therefore the air follows a longer path above than below. Air that isdivided at the leading edge of a wing must rejoin at the trailing edge. Since the upper surface of the wing is longer, it causes the air to flow faster over the upper surface, which(by Bernoulli's principle) creates lower pressure above
.
Because lift is caused by theshape of the rocket (ellipse), ellipses can create lift at zero attack angles. They can createlift simply from path length difference which leads to pressure difference, and no air needs to be deflected. After a surface of the ellipse rocket has passed by, the air does notremain moving downwards. However much this could be a good idea, but the forcerequired to lift the rocket still will be very small compared to the gravitational forceacting against the pressure force. The Bernoulli’s principle will only provide a small lift. A more advanced field of studyhowever will be to distort the space in which the rocket and all other bodies around itreside. If only the lines of space parallel to the rocket are curved, then gravity in this areawill be reduced. Parallels at the base of the rocket will be curved towards the rocket andthose at the top will be curved away from the rocket (ellipsoid), this therefore will createa non- gravity free space.
