ANGEL FOOD
(Service project) This project provides volunteers to assist with local monthly food plandistribution.
HUG BASKETS
(Service project) This project provides a basket of necessary items to a needy applicant in thecommunity. This applicant can be anyone who needs extra care.Occasionally, the Chapter will also do a group collection for needed items(e.g., Christmas gifts to Women’s Crisis Center).
JA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TANEY COUNTY
(Service project) This project is a $500 scholarship donated to each of four area county highschools (Branson, Kirbyville, Forsyth and Hollister) awarded to graduatinghigh school students (male or female) who show initiative and willingness tovolunteer in their communities. Scholarships are renewable.
NIGHTINGALES
(Service project) This project provides volunteer hours to enhance the lives of residents incare facilities, write letters, address Christmas cards, or anything to make aresident’s day a little brighter. This also includes Glitz and Glamour, a funafternoon of make-up and jewelry given to residents of a local senior carefacility.
PROM DRESS PROJECT
(Service project) The Prom Dress Project provides high school girls who might not otherwisehave an opportunity to enjoy their proms, with gently worn or new promdresses and accessories. Girls are identified through high school counselorsand are allowed to “shop” from dresses at designated times.
RUN FROM THE COUCH 5K AND FAMILY FITNESS WALK
(Finance /Service project)
The Run from the Couch 5K is a fund-raising event held to raise funds and provide ahealthy activity in the community. Held in conjunction with the Run From the Couch5K, the Family Fitness Walk provides a one-mile family fitness walk with variousactivity stations along the way. Each station promotes movement and healthyactivities.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARENESS
(Service project) This project is a program designed to guide students and their parentsthrough the process of finding financial aid and scholarships for furtheringtheir educations after high school. Working in conjunction with county highschools, information-packed notebooks are distributed to all interested juniors and seniors.
