This is one of the most famous sermons that Y’shua ever did and is accepted by most Christians in most Churches as the principles to direct our lives towards. Where did Y’shua get the foundation from saying these things, are they all NEW and ADDITIONAL REVALATIONS that He taught us? No, He actually just taught that was already written in the Torah and the Prophets. In this study we will look at the origin of these principles as well as their context to get the true essence of Y’shua’s sermon and why He preached it.

In verses 5:3-12, the Master Y’shua presented eight principles by which believers are to live. With each of the principles He also stated the reward that accompanied living by that principle. This again underlines the fact that we are saved by faith in Y’shua and are blessed following His Commandments of which these eight principles are formulated and build up from His Commandments. People tend to focus on the reward because that is what we want, but we must focus on the principle, to get that into our lives, and then the reward will follow.
