Emergency Rescue: Recovering Lost Data
This tutorial will show the steps you can take if you have lost adrawing due to an unforeseen circumstance.
There is a good article in the Helpdesk which all users shouldfamiliarize themselves with. It explains in detail how to use toolswithin MSCAD 2005 and Mapscenes 2006 to safeguard yoursurvey data. After recovering your data please review the article
SAVE, QSAVE and AutoSave are not all the same!
1. If you have enabled the autosave feature you will find the last saved version of yourdrawing in your temporary file folder. If you look in Cad Tools->Options you will find thelocation of that file. The view in the screenshot below shows a typical setting. If therewere room in the window to display the full location it would read:
C:\Documents andSettings\(Your Login Name)\Local Settings\Temp

3. Use “My Computer” to navigate to the Temporary File location. You can do this by typing%temp% in the My Computer address window (shown below) or can navigate to theassigned location. You can find which location is assigned by viewing the Paths/Files tabin the “Options” dialogue pictured at the beginning of this tutorial.
NOTE:
You may discover that the “LocalSettings” directory is not visible within yourlogin name directory, in which case you willneed to modify the “My Computer” folderoptions to enable viewing hidden folders:
