Biographical Information for Olga PiekarskiFebruary 1, 2009
Six years ago I moved from a republic of the former Soviet Union toColorado. Before moving to Colorado my teaching experience for 12years was with kindergarten through 4th year students. In Denver Itaught pre-school/ECE for 2 years at a Montessori Center andtaught Russian at a private international school. I spent most of thesummer of 2008 in Russia on a Fulbright grant and have brought muchinformation back with me that I am sharing this school year with mystudents.I have moved to Anchorage, Alaska in August of 2008 to teach atTurnagain Elementary School. It is the only Russian-English bilingualpublic, non-charter, school in the USA.During my years as a classroom teacher I have sought to instill ineach child the desire to study with a cognitive interest to investigate allsubjects. My hope is to bring about children who are harmoniouslyadvanced as a person. I work with each child as an individual to allowfor children to advance at their own pace. I feel it is important forchildren to become acquainted with their surroundings, learning from allthat they see in nature and the city where they live.
