Dear StudentsThis will be the last parent bulletin for the school year. It has been aprivilege to serve the ISM community the past two years and I eagerly lookforward to returning and enacting many of the plans we have already madefor the new year.Last week I wrote to you outlining departing faculty. Today I wanted tobriefly introduce our new HS faculty.
 
In the Math Department we have Mr. Carey Nourse, (InternationalSchool of Beijing), Ms Pamela Makunja (International School of Tanganyika) and Mr. Thomas Santowski (American School of Doha).
 
In the Modern Language Department we have Mr. BrendanWesthoff (Buffalo Seminary, New York), and Ms. Shellie Banks(The Bay School of San Francisco).
 
In the Science Department we have Mr. Christopher Goodman(Escuela Campo Alegre in Caracas)
 
In the ESL Department we have Ms. Amy Burchett (ACL DarwinLanguage Centre)
 
In Guidance we have counselor Curtis Nichols, (Lahore AmericanSchool).
 
And sharing with the Middle school we have Computer Integrationspecialist Mr. Brandon Hoover (North Jakarta InternationalSchool) and PE teacher Ms. Jenna Child (AICJ Oshu Gauken,Hiroshima).As you read this message we will be graduating 166 senior students. Trueto the Class of 2009 motto they have been “strong to the finish”. I wish tocongratulate the seniors and their families on an excellent year. I knowthey have been well prepared and armed with their ISM Diplomas they areready to tackle the next important stage in their lives. Getting your IB results
 
You can access your IB results onhttp://results.ibo.orgfrom 6th July 12.00 GMT. (Individual pincodes were sent to your school email in early April. Make sure you forward the email to your personal account as your schoolemail account will probably be closed by the time results are released)
 
Component grades
 
Your results page will show your final summative grades from the IB, 1
7 for IB subjects, and A
E forExtended Essay and TOK. If you want to know your component scores for any or all subjects, please email me and I’ll sendthem to you.
 
Enquiry Upon Results
 
If you think there has been a mistake with any of your IB subject grades, you can request an EUR‘Enquiry Upon Results’ and your exams get remarked by a senior examiner. An EUR can cause your grade to go up or downand there is a fee for this service unless it results in a grade change. If you are considering an EUR, contact me and we’ll lookat your component grades to see how close you are to the next grade boundary. An EUR can take anywhere from 2 days to 2weeks.

If you need to re
sit any IB subjects (to improve your result or to get your diploma), you will need to letme know very soon after results are posted. Re
sit candidates will usually do their exams in the following session (Nov 09).You can re
sit here or at any IB world school but you must be registered by

On behalf of the ATAC Department I would like to thank all students for the time and effort they have given to being amember of a school team for this year. Your desire to be involved and to represent ISM to the very best of your abilitywhether in local sporting or cultural events here in Manila or overseas at an IASAS event is much appreciated.We look forward to seeing everyone back in August and ready to represent ISM proudly in school year 09-10. Our first bigISM event for next year is hosting IASAS Soccer in October. This is going to be a fantastic tournament for our schoolcommunity to get behind and support. We will need housing for 160 visiting athletes from the IASAS schools and I trust thatthe ISM community will give its full support to make this an “ISM Special Event” to remember.Good luck to all the Bearcats in the graduating class of ’09 and thank you for your efforts to support the schoolAthletics/Activities program during your years at ISM.To all ES/MS/HS Bearcats have a great vacation!

From the Security Office:
A MESSAGE FROM THE OPERATIONS AND SECURITY DEPARTMENTI. IDs for the New School YearParent IDs
 
Current parent IDs will continue to be valid for the new school year 2009-2010.
 
Parents who require replacement school IDs due to loss or damage can acquire these from the Security Officeupon payment of Php100.00 to the Cashier.
Student IDs
All students will be issued with new ID cards at the beginning of the new school year. To facilitate this theyshould visit the security office before the end of the current school year for the taking of their photograph.
School Passes
 
School passes issued to parent’s employees and representatives need to be replaced for next school year. As of August 31, 2009 the blue bordered passes will be invalid.
 
The security office is now accepting applications for new school passes, however the cards will not be availablefor collection before July 1, 2009.
 
Each family will be given two free school passes. Additional school passes may be obtained after paying aprocessing fee of Php100.00 each to the Cashier’s Office.
2, Car Stickers for the New School Year
The car stickers for school year 2009/2010 will be available from the security office beginning July 1, 2009.For vehicles already displaying an existing sticker, parents should submit a completed renewal form with a copy of acurrent LTO official receipt. For new vehicles, parents are reminded that a copy of the vehicle’s certificate of registration and a current official receipt need to be submitted with the application. Applications for vehicles registeredwith companies or other institutions should be supported by a letter of assignment.Each ISM family will be issued one vehicle sticker free of charge. Any additional stickers will be issued following paymentof P100 to the cashier’s office.

Cross Country 2009-2010
 
Be ready! Cross country! August 2009!ISM Cross Country team had a very successful year in 2008-2009, winning
two
silver medals at IASAS, in Manila. Next year we plan to train and race as hard and prepare for the bigIASAS event in Taipei.Trainings will start first day of school for the 2009-2010school year. If you would like to be apart of this fantasticteam please contact Coach Forgie atanawhata2@gmail.comorsee me in the PE department. Runners must register to getthe summer training program.
Important information:
Trainings will run 4 afternoons aweek. The Pre IASAS team needs to be decided on within 4weeks of school starting, attendance is compulsory to have achance for selection for either Pre I or the IASAS team.Pre IASAS will be held in Bangkok and IASAS in Taipei. Wewould like to take full teams to both of these events.
 
ATTENTION HS GOLFERS:
If you are interested in joining the ISM Golf Team for 2009-10 with a view to making the HS IASAS Golf Exchange team please send an email topekinm@ismanila.org to register your interest.The IASAS Golf Exchange will be played in Jakarta inNovember 2009 and I am keen to get more players jointhe program and tryout for one of the 6 male and 4female positions for the team to go to Jakarta.If you are a keen HS golfer who plays golf on a regular basis, are willing to commit to 5 practice rounds toqualify for selection to next years team please get incontact with me before school year ends.Our qualifying rounds will begin early August to decidewhich players will be able to join the IASAS Golf Exchange Team for 2009-2010 school year.Mark PekinATAC Director
