Petition: Save our Children from Microwaves (S.E.M.O.)

For: The House of Commons, Canadian Parliament,Ottawa, OntarioWe, the undersigned, would like to bring the following issue to the attention of theHouse of Commons:

Considering that:

-Canadian safety standards regarding microwave radiation (Safety Code 6)emitted by communication devices protect the Canadian population from

thermal

effects only;-Biological effects of microwave radiation associated with serious healthconsequences (cancer) have been observed at radiation levels lower than theCanadian standard.-The

Bionitiative Report

, a synthesis of independent and international scientificreports regarding this issue, has issued recommendations to protect the generalpopulation.-This report has been recognized by the European Environment Agency and theEuropean Parliament, and it has inspired several countries and cities to establishnew radiation standards to protect their populations.-Children are especially vulnerable to microwave radiation.-Epidemiological studies, laboratory research and case studies have all confirmedthat chronic exposure to low level microwave radiation can cause adversebiological effects.

For these reasons, we the undersigned

, request Parliament to modify Canadiansafety standards in order to limit public exposure to microwave radiation to:



1000 uW/m2 maximum outside buildings (0.6 v/m)



10 uW/m2 maximum within buildings (0,06 v/m)



And to create a safety zone of 300m around schools and daycarecentres, within which cell phone antennae may not be installed.
