isprinted on the enclosedregistration card.You are required to presentthiscard when you pick up your race number.
REGISTRATION AND RUNNERS EXPO
will be held atDanicahallen at“Östermalms IP”,500 metres fromthe 1912 Olympic Stadium.The entrance is on thestreet”Lidingövägen”which runs alongside theOlympic Stadium (see map on nextpage).Registration and the Runners Expo with manyrunning related exhibitor stands will be open onThursday28 Mayfrom 17.00 to20.00,Friday 29May from 10.00 to 20.00 and on Saturday 30 Mayfrom 09.00 to 12.30.Atthe registration you will getyour race number.During the race,your number bib mustbe clearlyvisible on your chest.On the number bib the letterA,B,C,D,E or F is printed.The letter indicates inwhich group you will start.Itis,of course,forbidden for runners to givetheir race number to another runner.Please complete the information on the reverseside of the number bib.
FREE TRANSPORT:
The bestway of getting to andfrom the registration and start/finish attheOlympic Stadium is by underground train(”T-banan”).You getoff atthe station ”Stadion”.On 28-30 Mayyou justshow your number bibor registration card when you enter the under-ground,a local bus or local train and transportisfree,courtesy of SL,the local public transportcompany.

BEFORE THE START:
”Östermalms IP”,where allrunners assemble before the start,is open from9.00 on Saturday 30 May.
CHANGING ROOMS:
Alimited number ofchangingrooms are available:
The male and female seeded elite runners ingroup A can use the changing rooms attheOlympic Stadium.
Male runners in group B can use changingrooms at”Idrottshögskolan”,between the OlympicStadium and “Östermalms IP”.
All other male and female runners can usechanging rooms/tents at”Östermalms IP”.All changing rooms areopen from 10.00 to21.00 on raceday.Do notleave any valuables inthe changing rooms!
CLOTHING:
You are advised to place your track suitor any other clothing in specially designated areasat”Östermalms IP”.Place your clothing in the plasticbag/rucksack you getatthe registration.On this bag,please stick the adhesive label,marked with your name and startnumber,which you getwith your number bib.Leave the bag inthe designated area notlater than 13.30.Pleaseshow your number bib when you collectyourclothing after the race.Do notleave any valuables in the bag!
SAFETY DEPOSIT SERVICE:
For safe keeping of yourvaluables we advise you to hand them in atthesafetydepositservice at”Östermalms IP”.You willreceive a smaller label for this when you getyournumber bib.You mustpresentyour number bib,when you reclaim your valuables after the race.
THE RACE STARTS
at14.00 on ”Lidingövägen”,astreetwhich runs alongside ”Östermalms IP”.(seemap on nextpage) Runners are divided into sixstartgroups according to previous marathonresults.The letter on your number bib shows yourstartgroup.
Group A:Seeded elite runners,men with num-bers 1–100 and women with K1–K100 starts first.
Group B:Men with numbers 101–400 and15001–15500.
Group C:Men with numbers 401–2500 and16001–17000 plus women with numbersK101–K250and K5001–K5500.

Group E:Men with numbers 5501–8600 and 18001and higher numbers plus women with numbersK851–K2000 and K6001 and higher.
Group F:Men with numbers 8601– 15000 andwomen with numbers K2001–K5000.Runners who finished the 2008 Stockholm Marathonhave been allocated the same startnumber as theirplace in lastyear´s marathon.Runners who did notrun the 2008 StockholmMarathon have been allocated startnumbersaccording to previous results in races.
TO THE START:
Each group has its own startpen onthe street”Lidingövägen”.From 13.15 you may walkfrom ”Östermalms IP”to your group´s startpen.There are two exits from ”Östermalms IP”to thestart.Each exitis clearly marked with the letters of the startgroups which use the respective exit.Theshortwalk from ”Östermalms IP”to ”Lidingövägen”is also marked with the letter of your startgroup.Race officials are atthe entrance of each startpenat“Lidingövägen”to ensure thatrunners are in thecorrectgroup.You mustbe in your startpen no laterthan 13.45.Ateach startpen there will be water onthe rightside of the streetand toilets on both sides.
THE COURSE
is two laps through the central parts of Stockholm.The course is 42 195 metres.Note thatthe two laps are notidentical.The firstlap is 20kilometres,the second lap 22 kilometres.Each kilometreis indicated by a sign.To avoid problems when the top runners lap theslower runners ,runners on lap one mustkeep to theright.Runners on lap two keep to the left!Runners mustfollow instructions from the policeandrace officials along the course.
REFRESHMENT STATIONS
are positioned abouteverythird kilometre (aboutevery 2 miles) along the route.The firstlap has 7 stations and the second lap 10stations.See the map on the nextpage for exactlocations.Atthree refreshmentstations (5 km,19 km and25 km) only water is served.Atall other refresh-mentstations the sportenergy drink MaximElectrolyte Grapefruit& Lemon flavour is served onthe firstsetof tables,covered with red plastic.Onthe second setof tables,covered with blue plastic,water is served.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY:
All cups used during therace are compostable and will be collected incompostable bags.The official waste disposalcompany Ragn-Sells will collectand ensure thatallcups are composted.The large trash bags for usedcups will be placed after the refreshmentstations.Please leave your cups here.
EXTRA ENERGY:
Therewill be energystations alongthe course provided byracesponsors.Pickledgherkins,dextrose,energy bars and sweets areprovided atthese extra stations.At32 kilometres Knorr vegetable stock will beserved,at36 kilometres a cola softdrink will beserved.Attwoof the refreshmentstations you canpick up bananas.
SPONGE:
Atthe registration you geta sponge.Youcan keep this sponge during the race and use ittorefresh yourself atthe sponge stations thatare ateach refreshmentstation.After the race,please put your sponge in the large barrels thatare placed afterthe finish line.
SHOWER STATIONS
will be located along the course.
TOILET
facilities aresituated at”Östermalms IP”,thestartarea and ateach refreshmentstation.If you decide
NOT TO FINISH
the race,please reporttothe nearestrefreshmentstation or to the Informationcentre at”Östermalms IP”.You mustreturn yourChampion Chip to an official.Free transportation willbe providedby Taxi Stockholm from the refreshmentstations tothe finish area for non-finishers.
INTERMEDIATE TIMES
areshown on digital clockspositioned along the route at5 kilometres,10 kilometres,15 kilometres,20 kilometres,21.1 kilometres (halfway),25 kilometres,30 kilometres,35 kilometres and 40kilometres.Atthese points your individual interme-diate times are recorded.
THE MAXIMUM RUNNING TIME
is 6 hours,whichmeans thatthe finish will be closed at20.00.Threecheck points along the course mustbe passed by acertain time.
The firstpointis located at21.1 kilometres at“Valhallavägen”and will be closed at17.00.
The second point,at28 kilometres at“Strandvägen”,will be closed at18.00.

The third,at32 kilometres at”Söder Mälarstrandwill be closed at18.35.Runners who do notreach the second and thirdcheckpoints in time will be provided with transportationto ”Östermalms IP”.
MEDICAL PERSONNEL
will be in attendance atthe startand finish areas and ateach refreshmentstationalong the course.The medical personnel areauthorised to orderexhausted or injured runners to drop out.
FINISH:
The racewill finishin the 1912 OlympicStadium whereno less than 83 officially recognisedworld records in track and field have been set

MEDAL:
Each runner who finishes the race in lessthan 6 hours will receive the unique 2009Stockholm Marathon medal.
POST RACE:
After finishing the race you will be given abottle ofmineral water justoutside the OlympicStadium.Then please proceed to ”Östermalms IP”(about300 metres from the finish) where you will find thepostrace service offering water,softdrinks,coffee,snacks,fruit,hotdogs,recovery drinks,etc.There will also be a massage service for tiredmuscles.
RETURN YOUR CHIP:
At”Östermalms IP”you mustreturn your Champion Chip.Then you will receive the2009 Stockholm Marathon finisher´s T-shirtand your goodie bag.Ifyou do notfinish,leave your chip in theInformation centre at”Östermalms IP”or mail itto:Stockholm Marathon,Box 10023,100 55 Stockholm,Sweden.
RESULTS:
The preliminary results will be onwww.StockholmMarathon.se from 21.00 on race day.The official results will be on the website a fewdays after the race.
 AGE CATEGORIES:
The 2009 Stockholm Marathonincludes the following age categories for men andwomen:Open (born 1970–91),40 plus (born1965–69),45 plus (born 1960–64),50 plus (born1955–59),55 plus (born 1950– 54),60 plus (born 194549) and 65 plus (born 1944 or earlier).
SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS:
Runners who havecompleted Stockholm Marathon five times areawarded a diploma.After ten races a commemora-tive medal is presented.Diplomas are also awardedafter 15 and 20 finishes.After finishing 25 times thehonorary medal is awarded.The medal or diploma will be sentto you in July.
RULES:
The Stockholm Marathon is conducted inaccordancewith the rules laid down by the SwedishAthletic Association and by the IAAF (InternationalAssociation of Athletics Federations).
COURSE CERTIFICATION
has been made by AIMS(Association of International Marathons and RoadRaces) course measurer Hugh Jones.
INSURANCE:
You participate atyour own risk.All runners arehowever insured againstaccidentswhich mightoccur during the race.For information,please contactthe Stockholm Marathon office.
IMPORTANT TO DRINK:
The average temperature inStockholm atthis time of the year is 18 degrees C or57 degrees Fahrenheit.The weather mighthoweverbe much warmer sometimes.In case of sunshine and high temperatures besuretodrink enough before,during and after therace.The effects of dehydration are magnified on ahotday!
