People who are dissatisfied with their jobs may pretend to work but accomplish little. By not caring about the financial welfare of their employers, they may cause their employers to go bankrupt. Employers must make a profit or the jobs disappear.

Thanks Kat. Anything that causes a company to pay an employee to do something that is not productive is one small step towards bankruptcy. It's like having a slow leak in your gas line.

This hits the nail on the head for admin type workers, myself included. It doesn't really elaborate enough on how this could lead to bankrupting employers, but I love the idea of pretending to work and the employer pretending to pay.

I couldn't agree more, Bill. As someone who follows the traffic of websites a lot, I think the Internet provides evidence of this being true in the workplace today. I have noticed that traffic for sites like YouTube is by far the highest Monday through Thursday during the work day. The reason for this is that everyone is in front of a computer screen at work trying to look busy. What better way is there to do this than with YouTube?
