Contemporary issue on Industrial waste management

Currently, there are tons of waste produced everyday around the world. Many approach has been introduced to to reduce the waste but yet not perfect and new problem keep arise. Traditionally, all the industrial waste was directly disposed to the near river as most of the industrial was in in liquid form and cant last long as solid waste increasing. So, new approcach such as sanitary land fill has been proposed to dispose solid waste. But this approach is not perfect as landfills leak gaseous, liquid and solid material. Bacteria decomposition from organic product also release deadly fumes and gases which can affect the air quality. For orgainic industrial waste, compositing is an approach for disposal. The natural decomposition of this organic matter by microorganism produce a crumby and brown material rich in plant nutrients and used as soil additive and increase the soil water holding capacity. But again, not all organic waste can be disposed in this way as some organic waste such as dairy product and pet waste can release harmful substance and can attract pests such as rodents and flies. Incineration is another waste management to burn the waste in controlled manner. But this approach also have problem as it potentially relaase toxicity ash. Releasing of carbon diaoxide also increase the green house effect. Currently, the famouse method for waste management is recycling. This approach is not only reduce the industrial waste but also reduce the usage of natural source. But in general, recycling cost extra energy and some complex industrial is hard to recycle as it may consist of many raw material. Furthermore, changing employer attitude from throw away mentality to more environment also a big problem as they think this method is not profitable.
