pulling, separating, or wrinkling them or by folding the sheets. After cutting, stack sheets dry or withseparators, or rolled gently at a radius no tighter than 300 mm, or as recommended by the manufacturer.
3. Disposal
Dispose of any component of the FRP system that has exceeded its shelf life or pot life, that has notbeen properly stored, and any unused or excess material that is deemed waste.
D. SUBMITTALS
Submit the following documents to the Engineer prior to installing the FRP system. In addition, when a Professional Engineer (PE) designs the FRP system, the PE must sign and stamp all designdocuments, including Working Drawings, and submit two copies for approval to the Deputy Chief Engineer (Structures). Allow three (3) weeks for review after complete calculations, drawings, and anysupplemental data are received by the D.C.E.S.
1. Qualifications of Contractor/ Applicator
Document a minimum of 3 years of experience or 15 similar field applications with acceptablereference letters from respective Owners and provide a certificate of completed training from theManufacturer/Supplier for at least one field representative who will be present on site throughout theproject.
2. Design Details and Working Drawingsa. Design details
When only the required loads and capacities of FRP system are shown in the Contract Documents, engage the services of a Professional Engineer (PE) to design the FRP repair. Design the FRP inaccordance with the American Concrete Institute (ACI) 440, “Guide for the Design and Constructionof Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures.” Use appropriate strengthreduction factors for a minimum life span of 20 years.
b. Working drawings
Prepare and submit Working (Shop) Drawings in accordance with the New York State SteelConstruction Manual for shop drawings. Include the type of FRP system, work locations, relevantdimensions of the system, and the work plan on the working drawings, including the necessarypreparations of the existing structure in the case of repair. Include the time schedule for various stepsin the work and clearly identify the environmental conditions that may affect the application andcuring of the FRP system.
3. Quality control
Provide a quality control plan for approval by the Engineer. Include specific procedures fortracking and inspection of all FRP components prior to installation, inspection of all prepared surfacesprior to FRP application, inspection of the work in progress to assure conformity with specifications, obtaining quality assurance samples, inspection of all completed work, performing tests for approval, and repair of any defective work. Repair or remove and replace any part of the work that fails tocomply with the requirements.
4. Other documents
1. The Manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Make the MSDS for each FRP componentavailable to all at the work site.
