15Whereas, Medical care should benefit the overall health of the individual(s) being cared for; and

17Whereas, Medical costs are reasonable only when such benefit can be reasonably anticipated;
18and

20Whereas, Group home residents are being deposited in offices for care that is neither necessary
21nor indicated because of group home reimbursement penalties if that group home does not
22obtain that unnecessary and/or unindicated care visit; therefore be it
23
24RESOLVED, That our American Medical Association advocate for our patients, who are unable
25to communicate or advocate for themselves, by working with appropriate regulatory and
26legislative bodies to effect changes in legislative and regulatory codes at local, state and federal
27levels to ensure that only nationally recognized, necessary and indicated medical care be
28mandated for group home residents. (Directive to Take Action)
