Jack Daniels appears as a character in Shot of Tequila, but only in a supporting role. She's the co-star, not the hero.

Shot of Tequila is a hardboiled crime novel about mobsters, not a police procedural about psychotic killers... though there are plenty of cops and psychotic killers in this novel.
