his magazine was designed andproduced by the Graphic DesignProduction class of Spring 2009.The concept behind our design wasthe idea of doing “good design”. Weacknowledge that designers have the
power to influence the masses through
visual communication. We believe thatevery designer has an ethical obligationtowards conveying a message that isnot destructive. We believe in honesty,integrity, and the intent to improvesociety with proactive design.Through this magazine we are bothresponding to contemporary design andcalling for a new outlook on its purposesand implications.
Asa teamwebrainstormedhowto convey this conceptthroughourdesign and layout.Wedecidedto use recycledpaperto emphasizeourduty topreserve theenvironment. Wealsousedamore handmadeapproachtolayout designto incorporate theprocess andappreciate ourgraphicdesign roots.We feelthat thesetwoconceptsare vitaltotheidea ofthis“redesign”.Since theinventionofdesktop publishing,graphicdesign hasbecome ubiquitousandredundant. We wanttoreintroducethe importance ofthedesignprocessthat seemstohave been lost in thepastfewdecades. This,along with doing “gooddesigniskeytothe successofsocietyinthefuture.
