Case Title: Programming – Samsung Exclaim (M550)

Solution Title: Complete the steps below to program the Samsung Exclaim (M550).

Where to Locate the ESN/MEID:

• The ESN/MEID can be found in two places.


o Underneath the battery in the phone on the right side of the barcode sticker.
 Turn off the phone and remove the battery to view.
o The Barcode sticker on the end of the original box, labeled DEC-HEX.
 This should always be the secondary method as the box and phone do
not always match.

Important Note:

• If the customer has not attempted the activation at sprint.com, you can proceed with the
First-time Activation Programming Steps.

First-time Activation Programming Steps: Hands Free OMA/DM

1. If the customer has not turned on the phone, request that they leave the phone Off until
advised
2. Check provisioning by searching the Switch Control Query Tables in CSM:
o From the Profile tab, click Page Options.
o Click Switch Activities.

o Click Query Switch Tables.
 The Switch Query Tables screen appears.
o Click Get.
o Review most recent transaction.
 If Complete Success displays in the Switch Query Tables, go to step
3.
 If Complete Error displays in the Switch Query Tables, go to Manual
Programming Steps.
3. Ask the customer to turn On the phone.
o The customer will see the following message:
 Hands Free Activation, Contacting network.
o Once complete, customer sees, Your device has been activated! OK
 If customer sees the above messages, go to Step 4.
 If customer does not see the above messages, go to One Touch
Programming Steps.
4. Choose the soft key under OK.
o The phone will turn off and turn back on and return to the idle screen.
o The phone is now ready for use to make voice and data calls.

One Touch Programming Steps: To be used only if First-time Activation Programming


fails.

o If Hands-Free Activation is not successful, the customer will see a try again later
message.

1. Ask the customer to turn On the phone.


2. Press the Menu/OK button to open the Main Menu.
3. Use the navigation keys (up, down, left, right) to highlight the Web option.
4. Press the Menu/OK button to launch the Web internet browser.
o The voice and data services on the phone will be programmed.
o When complete, the phone will show a programmed successfully message.
5. Press OK.
o The Web browser launches.
o This completes the programming of the Voice and Data services.
o The phone is now ready for use to make voice and data calls.

Manual Programming Steps: To be used only if Switch Query Tables shows Complete
Error or when launching the browser fails:

o If Hands Free OMA/DM and One Touch were unsuccessful, have the customer perform
the following manual programming steps on the phone:

1. Press ## followed by the 6-digit Master Subsidy Lock (MSL) code, followed by an
additional #.
o Example: ##123456#.
 The last # entered will not show on the display.
o The Service Program screen will be displayed, highlighted on View.
o Important Notes:
 Handle the MSL with extreme caution.
 When it must be shared with the customer, refer to it as a six-digit
number instead of MSL.
2. Scroll down to Edit.
3. Press Menu/OK.
o Enter MDN screen will be displayed.
4. Enter the 10-digit MDN.

5. Press Menu/OK.
o Enter MSID screen will be displayed.
o Note: Entering the numbers will clear out any numbers that are currently in the
phone.
6. Enter the 10-digit MSID.
o Do not enter the five 0’s presiding the MSID displayed in CSM.
7. Press Menu/OK.
o This will take you back to the original Service Program screen.
8. Scroll down to Done.
9. Press Menu/OK.
o The phone will turn off and turn back on and voice programming is complete.
9. Inform the customer about the expected provisioning times.
10. Tell the customer to wait an hour and then try to open the Web browser
o Refer to steps 1-5 in One Touch Programming Steps for instructions to open
the Web browser.
