Well Trained

At the end of April, I spent aweek at the WorldVenture HQ in Littleton being trained onlife as a missionary. I learned a lot that week and cameaway on “informationoverload.” I also started good friendships with the other missionary girls (above).

With the fall of Communism inCentral and Eastern Europemuch of the world rejoiced.However, did anyone anticipatesome of the effects this wouldhave on the next generation?In the last ten years, Poland hasseen a shifting economy whichhas placed many men out of work. With no job and a way toprovide for their family many of the men will turn to alcohol tocover their shame. Unfortunately,this leads to abuse inside thehome and leaves many childrenwithout a safe place to grow up.Families are frequently split acrossEurope in search of stableincome. Polish youth are left totheir own devices, which arefrequently violent anddisrespectful.King’s Kids works inneighborhoods where the youthare living this reality. Theyprovide the safe-place that thesekids need. Through tutoring,Bible studies, English and danceclasses, the youth can discoverwho God has created them to be.I am eagerly awaiting joining thisgrowing ministry in Poland!
