The Social Inform
Taken aback, to the turning point of America.
MLK’s near assassination transformsinto a life-long legacy
by Scott Thayres
“Dear Lord, I thank you myHoly Savior for my second chance atlife. I know by your gracious hand that Iam still here today Lord. May your HolySpirit keep me at peace for myremainder of time so that I may do whatyou have kept me here to do. Amen.Today, as I stood at the podium, mythoughts have swayed. I was notthinking about the past, nor the present, but the future. I have much more to doand preach to all my brethren of allcolors.I have a dream. Youhave a dream. Together, wehave the American Dream.America has a dream, that one day, the impecunious, the homeless, the unfortunateand the fortunate willexperience a reverse.America has a dream that allin the richness of Hollywood from theslums of Harlem will come together in asocial conversation, a socialconversation of not just equality of race, but of economic standards.America has a dream that oneday, jealousy and thievery will be tamed by the hopes and dreams of the lesser. That greed and financial superiority arecrushed by the people for the people.America has a dream thatschools will overflow with children andstreets will shout and scream inhappiness of each new day: “This is thePoor People’s Campaign!”America has a dream! When the sounds echoingthrough the streets have ceased, the criesof weeping willows evolve into cries of new beginnings, the muggings andslums transform into combined handsand peaceful neighborhoods. This is nota socialistic view, but a view for allsides of this nation. We are dreamingAmerica and with our believes withheart and our hands joined, we canmake this country into equality.”
This is but a piece of MartinLuther King Jr.’s second speech thataided in the reality of America today. With his firm grip on beliefs pertaining toequality of men and money, he is but acut of the crop in American History.
Martin Luther King Jr. gives his first moving and very effective speech on desegregation and racismin “I Have A Dream” speech.
 What If,
MLK did leave hiswork un-finished?
 By Scott Thayres
It begs and persuades to have thethought come across your mind leavingyou stumped or awed, possibly a chuckleor two. I was thinking on the side of Socio-Democracy never rearing it’s headas high as it did. So what could havehappened? Well, for starters, the bulletdid more then just graze MLK’s head. With the tragic loss, America filled upwith anger and sorrow. In Chicago,Baltimore and Washington D.C. therewould be a mass outbreak of riots thatwould take days to restore back to order.Riots, riots and more riots. Then JFK would give a speech in honor of hisdeath.Hey, it didn’t happen. It’s to un-realistic that it deserves a laugh. Howcould this ever happen, really?

What’s next?
Slums, dumps, whatever way youphrase it, there’s no need for the wordhere. For about 30 years, America hashad safer streets, clorox-d neighborhoodsand a new recycled lifestyle. There aresome cases of littering, a crime or two,but were not perfect.Ever since the Vietnam War, America’s economical position wasdeclining. Money was being tarnished bywar machines and puppet jar heads.Nothing was getting done over seas andeventually, things were definitely notgetting done over here. When LBJ took back the office hehoped for a better outcome of his secondterm. Unfortunately, his mentality startedto crack and in time, LBJ resigned.Countless dollars were spent in the war.Ironic, how someone who was stronglyagainst poverty just made it worse. The Democrats were stuck in acorner. During the DemocraticConvention, protesters stood outsidescreaming their opinions until it washeard. The Protesters were opponents of the Socialist Workers Party (Communismaffiliated) and went to the convention toget their voices heard. Violence broke outand the protesters broke through andstormed through the doors. Hand-in-hand Democrats and soon to be SocialistParty goers elected Richard (Dick) Nixon.Sadly, Richard Nixon wasassassinated after his first term. “Sadly”would be too much, more like “happily.”Nixon didn’t earn sympathy for his death,he earned resentment. He mislead America to a more unstable economicalenvironment. So how did the economy get better? Well, in 1972, the people’s need forDemocracy, better economics and theend of the Vietnam War influenced theelection for 1973. Our 38th PresidentMichael Harrington, part of theDemocratic-Socialism Party, was willing to give it up to the people. “If it’s whatthe people want, they will get it.”In office, Harrington quickly endedthe war raising the white flag. TheVietcong Treaty was signed days after. The Socialistic view of the handling themoney mixed with America’s previousDemocracy ended the recession in 4 years time. I wonder how it turned out?

What If? (part 2)
Let’s say that LBJ decided to sit thisone out. Maybe the protesters got theirbacksides handed to them and RichardNixon wasn’t assassinated and actuallydid some helpful things. Today wouldmost likely not be “Today.”I bet that Vietnam would have had itmuch worse. Like bombings on cities likeHanoi or Haiphong. Hell, America wouldstart to decay in some places. I guaranteeit was all because of Capitalism. Thinabout it.

No slums or bums. Just hallelujahsand hums.
No complaints here. America is in its prime since ourFounding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. Thestreets of Harlem, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and American citiesin general look many times better than 32 years in our past state.Slums are no more. Poor districts of the suburbs and urbsthat were painted with garbage like a collage of dumpsters are justa bundled ball of paper now. That ball of paper recycled is thepicture of today. Clean streets, sidewalks, alleys, everything iscleaner. “I’m not the only African-American out there with agreat life. Go talk to the rest of em in the Country.” said an African-American citizen on the streets of New York City. “Youdon’t see anyone sleeping on the sidewalk so you know thiseconomy is holding together.”No bums. It’s a great sight when you know everyone has ahome. It means that a Socialist economy can keep a countrystable. Not only that, but it keeps the crime rate low and in check,gang-related violence low to near depletion and illegal drugs arestill stuck in Cuba.No gunshots, no shouting, no taps and bangs of theclattering of trash. It’s all soundless to me. All I can hear is justhallelujahs and hums.
