Body Scanners are advanced Imaging Technology for the purposes of detecting metallic and nonmetallic items on Airplane Passengers without bodily contact.

Laser scanning White light scanning Image processing Digital tape measurement

Laser scanning technology consists of using lasers to project onto the human body one or more thin and sharp stripes. Simultaneously, light sensors acquire the scene and by applying simple geometrical rules the surface of the human body is measured.
4

Instead of moving the scanner unit, a light pattern (usually in form

of stripes) is projected onto the human body.

A light sensor (e.g. a digital camera) acquires the scene.

Usually, binary coding systems are used to determine the origin of

the single stripes; for the increment of the resolution, the projected stripes are additionally shifted.

The major difference to laser scanning is that the acquisition happens in a very short time and that it results in the digitization of entire surface parts.
5

Image processing is any form of signal processing for which

the input is an image, such as a photograph or video frame; the output of image processing may be either an image or a set of characteristics or parameters related to the image.

3D information is generated and extracted from 2D images.

By using the symmetry of the human body, the most

important sizes of body are computed with sufficient accuracy from the silhouettes of the body.
7

As last technology available for the digital measurement of

the human body, has to be mentioned

The method combines classical human body measurement and digital technology.

The measurement process is completely similar to classical

tape measurement, where lengths are measured by a tape at

different key location of the human body (chest, waist, sleeve, etc.).

Virtual-make-over solutions deal with the virtual styling persons in the area of the face, by changing or adding virtually make-up, haircuts or accessories. The appeal of the human face is changed virtually by adding digitally to a digitized 3D human face, haircuts or glasses

A barcode reader (or barcode scanner) is an electronic device for reading printed barcodes. Types of Barcode Readers Used in Retail: Pen type barcode reader

Light from the scanner (laser, LED, or other) reflects off the label back to a sensor in the scanner

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification.

A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for

storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label, "transponder"

or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an

antenna.

Transmitting in the kilohertz, megahertz and gigahertz ranges, tags may be battery-powered or derive their power from the RF waves coming from the reader.
29

30

A RFID tag consists of a silicon chip that stores data and an antenna that receives instructions from and transmits data to the reader.

RFID tags

ACTIVE RFID

PASSIVE RFID
31

"Passive" tags have no power source but use the

electromagnetic waves from the reader to energize the chip

and transmit back (backscatter) their data.

Passive tags can cost less than a quarter and be read up to approximately 10 feet from the reader's antenna.

"Active" tags have a battery integrated for their power

source.

They can transmit up to 300 feet indoors and more than a thousand feet outdoors.
32

A RFID reader accomplishes two tasks it receives commands from the application software; and it communicates with tags. Readers may be stationary, handheld or mounted on mobile objects like forklifts. The reader transmits radio waves through an antenna.

33

34

35

At each work station there is

a terminal with an RFID

reader.

The operator scans the RFID

tag when he/she starts or

finishes working on that bundle.

The system calculates the time taken to complete the bundle and updates the efficiency
36

37

It helps in implementing IE concepts. It helps to find the time taken to complete the operation at each work station This can be used to implement time study concept.

38

A biometric system is essentially a pattern recognition system that operates by acquiring biometric data from an individual, extracting a feature set from the acquired data, and comparing this feature set against the template set in the database.

39

Humans have used body characteristics such as face, voice, and gait for thousands of years to recognize each other.

To match with fingerprints in the database to determine the identity of the criminals

40

Biometrics can be used to secure access to restricted areas of airports, verify passengers' identities

41

The system validates a persons identity by comparing the captured biometric data with their own biometric template(s) stored in the system database. Identity verification is typically used for positive recognition, where the aim is to prevent multiple people from using the same identity
42

In the identification mode, the system recognizes an individual by searching the templates of all the users in the database for a match

47

A digital pen is an input device which captures the handwriting or brush strokes of a user. Converts handwritten analog information created using "pen and paper" into digital data, enabling the data to be utilized in various applications.

48

Accelerometer Accelerometer based digital pens contain components that detect movement of the pen and contact with the writing surface. Positional Position based digital pens use a facility to detect the location of the tip during writing. Some models can be found on graphics tablets made popular by Wacom. Camera Camera based pens use special digital paper to detect where the stylus contacts the writing surface, such as those using Anoto technology

49

The development of digital pens is comparable to the invention of email. Some businesses have been using the electronically-enabled pens for : mapping surveying filling out forms, and other business functions for the last few years.

50

Serviced Based Businesses Service reports bring them back to the office in real time, improve your billable hours. Purchase orders get your field staff completing purchase orders and and get a purchase order back to them in seconds

51

Law Enforcement Ticketing write on your note pad and send the data back to the processing centre no need for data entry. Photos of the infringement can also be captured & sent by a compatible mobile phone. Reporting being able to write on a notebook which automatically populates the report fields saving hours a week of retyping.
52

Students Perfect tool for note taking: everything that need and automatically transfer the notes to a Word document. This saves lugging around a laptop or tablet PC and also saves the stress when the battery of said laptop or tablet PC runs out.
