Making the Festival happen has been a huge eort and involved manyenthusiastic and passionate sporty people in the city. We’d like tothank our unders and partners who have played a part in making thisyear’s Festival our biggest yet.We would also like to thank the national governing bodies or sportand the many local sports clubs who have put in much time and eortto develop sports and activities or the programme this year.The Festival o Sport is taking place rom 24 August – 8 Septemberthis year. Bigger and better than in previous years, the event is abumper ortnight o sport or all to get involved in. It’s the perectopportunity to try a range o new sports, nd out about the clubs inyour area and all o the Festival activities are ree.In the programme or the Festival this year we are delighted toconrm Sport with the Stars and Sport with a Splash. Taking placeon 24 August, the events will kick o the estival with a bang, whereMeadowbank Sports Centre and the Royal Commonwealth Pool willhost a huge come and try sports estival.Sports club events are the oundation o the Festival o Sport. Eachyear local clubs have opened their doors, put on competitions andencouraged the local community to try their sport. This year is nodierent and we’re delighted that the Festival will eature more than26 sports and 90 individual events.More events are being added to the Festival programme all the time.To nd out more about the latest events and those listed in thisbrochure visit www.activity.ino/estivalosport

It is tailored to suit children o all skill levels rom beginnerto those who have already taken part in introductory athleticsprogrammes, holiday courses or local community junior competitions.The RJT programme oers children a wide variety o athletics eventsand techniques, and ocuses on the undamental movement skills,important in every child’s development.
