Here is the complete court transcript of the recent violations, including those of Kaitlyn’s MOTHER who threatened the young girl.
1. Hunt was 18 and a senior when she met the freshman girl of 14 in September of 2012.
2. They were on the same basketball team and the rule was teammates were not supposed to date.
3. Their first sexual encounter was in December 2012 in a girls’ bathroom at school during class. (What? No date first?) There was at least one other rest room encounter in January.
4. The younger girl began to act out, and in January 2013 ran away from home and was picked up by Kaitlyn Hunt, who brought her back to the Hunt house for sex. No one called the younger girl’s parents, who were frantic when they couldn’t find their daughter.
5. The girl’s parents found out about the sexual relationship from a group of concerned people on February 7, 2013
8. The parents reported the relationship to the police the next day (2/8/13) and the police confirmed the relationship on 2/15 through a controlled phone call.
9. Kaitlyn was arrested on 2/16/13.
10. The younger girl did not turn 15 until several months after the arrest.
11. Since the arrest–while Kaitlyn’s parents were getting GLBT support and raising money (shades of Traymom here) and having Kaitlyn turn down plea offers (2 were offered)–Kaitlyn continued to pursue the younger girl, supplying her with a communications device, meeting her for sex, and warning her not to tell her parents or the police. (Oh, and texting the girl 20,000 times.)
Now if Kaitlyn were a guy and this were your daughter, wouldn’t you be worried?
