Lesson 1 Chapter 1 Basic Religions Reading Response 2

Every culture has a rite of passage meaning how one is accepted into

Society weather it has to do with education, politics, religion or any other

Rite Of Passage. In my culture which is the American Culture there are several

Rites Of Passage, one of them being education, in American Culture children

Are expected to attend school for a minimum of 12 years from elementary

And middle school to high school, from which one receives a diploma which

Then prepares one for college from there, one may pursue a degree in the subject

Of ones choosing to major in which prepares one for the business world. In

American one also finds rites of passage in the business world which one may

Call promotions, this is when one must perform certain task for his or her boss to

Move to the next level this is most common in big businesses which involve

Executives when the task is completed one may be promoted a high position such

As manager an executive or some other high level position. Politics in America also

Has a rite of passage especially when it comes to the presidency which is outlined in

The Constitution, for example the president must be a natural born citizen and have

Lived here for at least 14 years, and to have some political experience weather it’s a
Governor, Mayor or Senator. Finally in my culture which is predominately Christian

There are rites of passage found in the church, for one to become a member rites

Such as baptisms, dedications and communions signifies one’s entrance to the church

And dedication to the faith. Of course there are other rites of passage found in the

American culture but these are some of the basics one may find, I think the rites of

Passage found in my culture can be found in all other cultures around the world.
