national organizations have expressed their willingness to participate, including the following
countries’ national music promotion organizations: Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Italy,
Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom,This platform aims at widening the knowledge of US market for the European culturaloperators and European music professionals and creating an information contact pointfacilitating the development of European music in the US. This will be accomplished throughan on-going study of the market, with the first report and guide presented in this study and bypreparing, updating and distributing an aggregated database of key US contacts in the fields of the music business and related media. The objective of this report has been two-fold; to present a US market analysis and keycontact list as a draft towards a US Export Handbook for all involved European culturaloperators, and to widen the knowledge of the US market and serve as a guide for theseEuropean cultural institutions and music businesses that can facilitate their penetration of theUS market. This report should be of interest and be useful to all music business professionals, researchersand educators worldwide. The single most important message of this work, is that there aremany thousands of qualified music professionals in every area of the music business in theUS, interested in hearing, seeing and working with international artists, publishers and labelsto help launch, develop and grow their careers and businesses in the US. There are alwaysmany, often extreme, obstacles and barriers to entry and to success, especially in new (andchaotic) markets, however there are always pathways around, through, under and over, for theinformed, energetic, creative, resourceful and talented artists and business people, especiallythose working well with local experts, enrolling and building strong teams of dedicatedprofessionals. The aim of this study and the office in the US is to empower and to helpdiscover, share and create various ways to achieve success in the US market.
