As Magic coach Stan Van Gundysaid, “In any playoff series, it’s upto the team that loses to make theadjustments.” After getting wal-loped in Game 1, Orlando now mustadjust and answer three questions:
 What’s up with JameerNelson?
Nelson got significantbench minutes in Game 1 afterreturning from a shoulder injury.Lakers assistant Brian Shaw saysthey should maximize him. “I wouldnot be surprised if they start him,”Shaw said.
Was Dwight Howard’sGame 1 performance a fluke?
Hewas 1-for-6 from the field. Orlandomust do a better job of creatingspace for him.
 Who’s going to create thatspace?
The Magic can’t affordpoor shooting performances fromboth Hedo Turkoglu and RashardLewis. The Lakers forced them intooff-the-dribble midrange jump-ers, but Turkoglu and Lewis mustfind—and make—open 3s.

DETROIT—
So much for momentum. With their dominant 5-0 win overthe Penguins Saturday night, theRed Wings erased the ugly memoryof consecutive losses in Pittsburgh.“I don’t even buy momentum. I tellyou guys that all the time and no onelistens,” Detroit coach Mike Babcocksaid. “We won a game today and it’sa huge win for our team.”The Wings also moved to withinone win of their second consecutiveStanley Cup championship. Here are four reasons why the RedWings regained control of the finals:
1.
Pavel Datsyuk’s return
: He’s oneof the finalists for the HartTrophy, so it shouldn’t be surprisingthat his return ignited the RedWings. But it was surprising howquickly he was able to play effectivehockey after more than two weeksoff. Datsyuk finished with twoassists in 17:38 of ice time. “He wasgreat tonight,” Dan Cleary said.“Didn’t miss a beat.”
2.
They left Pittsburgh
: The Pen-guins are tough at home, having lost only once in their lastseven games at Mellon Arena. Butthe Penguins’ struggles during theregular season could catch up withthem now. The Red Wings earnedhome-ice advantage and don’t haveto win in Pittsburgh to claim theStanley Cup.
3.
The power play
: Detroit had beengetting outplayed on specialteams, but the Red Wings weredominant on the power play in acrucial Game 5. Detroit scored threepower play goals and Valtteri Filppulascored just seconds after a power playexpired. “We were focused through-out,” Brian Rafalski said, explainingthe improvement. “I thought we shotthe puck more. Obviously, havingPavel back helps, too.”
4.
They got some time off
: The RedWings were a tired groupduring their Game 4 loss. Babcockgave his team Friday off and it wasenough to recharge some exhaustedlegs. The final two games will beplayed over the course of six days, which helps Detroit more. “The bottom line is everybody will beready to go next game,” Babcocksaid.

Magic at Lakers
8 p.m., ABC
The Lakers dismantled Orlando in Game 1. Simpleenough. Now, after two days to contemplate what, exactly, went wrong—Dwight Howard’s singlefield goal is a good starting point—the Magic willhit the court at the Staples Center looking to eventhe series. Howard could ditch the blue-and-silversleeve he wore, for starters. “Man, I just wear thesleeve because I like how it looks,” Howard told the
Los Angeles Times
. “I started wearing it in practice,it felt good one day, and I thought, ‘Man, I shouldwear this in the game.’ It might make my shot look better.”

Gonefrom the picture, courtesy of Soderling, is four-timechamp Rafael Nadal, who gave Federer fits on clayfor years. “It’s nice to play against someone else,”Federer said. “I’m not really going to miss him.Maybe you (the press) are going to miss him but notme.”

Yes, Tiger Woods is in the hunt, and that alwaysmakes for solid Sunday afternoon couch time.Woods made his move on the back nine, high-lighted by an eagle on the ninth hole, and is fourshots behind leaders Matt Bettencourt and Mark Wilson. Bettencourt in particular is treading unfamil-iar ground—his next top-20 finish on the tour willbe his first.
