Sorokin, Pitirim A. This Is My Faith. In: Cole, Stewart G. (ed.). This Is My Faith: The Convictions of Representative Americans Today. New York: Harper, 1956, pp. 212—227.
In this widely cited essay Sorokin outlines his religous and philosophical beliefs in the form of answers to the following five questions:
1. What values from the Judaeo-Christian religious tradition are most applicable to contemporary society?
2. In the light of modern scientific advances, what are your religious convictions concerning "cosmic reality"? Does it cares for man's well-being? If so, how do you reconcile these beliefs with apparent evidence of Nature's indifference or occasional destructive treatment of man?
3. What is the relationship of human values concerning democratic principles and personal moral character to your religious faith?
4. Do man's supreme moral values derive from religion? If not, what is their source?
5. Does the concept "God" serve an essential purpose in your rationale of religion?
