Tiempos de presente y pasado
Louise is playing table tennis.
She usually plays tennis after school.
She likes sports.
Louise has bought a new racket.
She bought it last Saturday.
She has been using it since last Saturday.
She was going past the sports shop when
she saw the racket in the window.
She had already decided to buy a new
racket.
She had been looking for one for several
weeks.

Presente simple: Forma afirmativa
 El presente simple se forma con el verbo en su forma base, sin
ninguna terminación.
 Pero en la tercera persona del singular (es decir, después de
he, she, it, o cualquier nombre que pueda ser sustituido por
éstos, por ejemplo: John, your friend, etc…) el verbo termina en
‘–s’ o en ‘–es’:
I/you/we/they play
He/she/it plays
I/you/we/they watch
He/she/it watches

Presente simple: Forma negativa
 Para las oraciones negativas en presente simple necesitamos
el verbo auxiliar don’t.
 En la tercera persona del singular se usa doesn’t.

I/you/we/they don’t play


He/she/it doesn’t play
 En la tercera persona del singular NO se añade ‘-s’ al verbo
principal, ya que la ‘-s’ está incluida en el verbo auxiliar.
NO: He/she/it doesn’t plays

Presente simple: Forma interrogativa

 Para las oraciones interrogativas en presente simple


necesitamos el verbo auxiliar do delante del sujeto.
 En la tercera persona del singular se usa does.

Do I/you/we/they play?
Does he/she/it play?
 En la tercera persona del singular NO se añade ‘-s’ al verbo
principal, ya que la ‘-s’ está incluida en el verbo auxiliar.
NO: Does he/she/it plays?

Presente continuo: Forma
 El presente continuo se forma con el presente del verbo be + la
forma ‘-ing’:

Presente continuo: Presente simple:

Pasado simple: Forma afirmativa
 Las formas de pasado simple pueden ser regulares o
irregulares. La forma de un verbo REGULAR termina en ‘-ed’.
We played tennis yesterday
 El pasado simple es el mismo para todas las personas:

I/you/he/she/it/we/they played
 La única excepción es el pasado del verbo be:

I/he/she/it was
You/we/they were

Pasado simple: Forma negativa e
interrogativa
 Para las oraciones negativas e interrogativas en pasado simple
necesitamos el verbo auxiliar did:
I didn’t play yesterday
Did you play yesterday?
 En estas oraciones NO se añade ‘-ed’ al verbo principal, ya que
la marca de pasado está incluida en el verbo auxiliar.
NO: I didn’t played yesterday
NO: Did you played yesterday?

Pasado continuo: Forma
 El pasado continuo se forma con el pasado del verbo be + la
forma ‘-ing’:

¿Pasado simple o pasado continuo?

Pasado continuo: Pasado simple:

 Se usa para decir que algo o  Se usa para hablar de una

¿Pasado simple o pasado continuo?

 A menudo se usan pasado simple y continuo en la misma


oración para hablar de una acción corta, momentánea, que
interrumpió otra más larga:

I was reading... …when she phoned me

 En este sentido, el pasado continuo a menudo se usa para


contextualizar una acción pasada.

¿Pasado simple o pasado continuo?

 Para acciones consecutivas, cronológicamente narradas una

Presente perfecto: Forma
 El presente perfecto se forma con el presente del verbo have +
un participio pasado. Los participios de los verbos regulares
terminan en ‘-ed’:

Presente perfecto: Pasado simple:
